I see you all saying that the games will be shown everywhere Will that include the Sweden game, which is kicking off at about 3(ish) in the morning. I remember having to arrange a lock in to watch England get annihilated by the Danes last year.
Also when England destroyed the Germans 5 - 1 a couple of years ago there were very few bars that stayed open for that footballing masterclass.
Just a word of warning ie you don't want to have to arrange a lock in at the last minute.
It would be nice if some of the bar owners amongst you could give a bit of a clue as to what is happening. |

Almost every bar with a TV will be open late or have a lock in for the England/Sweden game and probably most of the other late games that involve decent teams. It's not on UBC so absolutely everywhere will be showing it.
It's a money spinner for the bars and don't the owners know it. Thais are football mad and generally support England because of the huge exposure the Premiership gets over here, so no worries about the cops - they know the score and will prob be in front of the box watching it themselves. _________________ Never trust a hippy.... |

I would imagine that most bars will have lock ins for key games. Check with the venue management first.
As for timing (all in Thai time):
The current phase shows three games per day 1, 20:00, 2, 23:00, 3 02:00.
When every team has played two games each the schedule switches to two parallel games at 21:00 and 02:00. I.e. each team in a gropu will play at the same time to stop any of them knowing the outcome of the other teams results in their group.
When the knockout rounds start the games will be played one at a time at 22:00 and 02:00.
When the semi finals are reached the matches will be played one at a time at 02:00.
The final will be played at 01:00.
All time except the 02:00 and the final at 01:00 will be completed during bar opening hours.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/world_cup_2006/schedule/default.stm
for details of each match.
Now that the jubilee celebrations have finished we are getting more coverage on both UBC and cable and also some English commentaries.
There does not seem to be any pattern or logic however to what stations show what games in in what language. _________________

Good luck to Germany tonight and England tomorrow! I think I read that Spain won today. We are entering exciting times now! Pete |
