Considering some of the threads below, I thought a poll for us who live here to see what news channels are watched the most might be interesting. I listed the ones I am aware of or that people have mentioned that are on Cable or UBC in Thailand. Sorry if I left any out... that's what "Others" is for.

The Beeb's off into an early lead.

I would think it will storm it, Fox is doing better than expected even with only one vote.

I'm afraid this wasn't well thought out... of course the Beeb as you call it will get the lion's share of the votes because the lions share of the English speaking people here are from Beeb-land.

I'm sure BBC is the most popular station in Britain, as Al Jazeera is the most popular among English speaking people in the middle east. The poll is still interesting though to see how many defectors there are. Me, yes, I voted for Fox because it is interesting and entertaining and they always have both points of view represented by the guests (not commentators, that would be only on Hannity and Colms), but then, I am American and FOX is by far the most popular cable news station in the U.S.

As for BBC, I like it, especially the specials like the Doha debates and the regular programs like Hard Talk and Click, but unless there is incredible breaking news every half hour the rest is boring. You only need to watch 30 minutes a day of the news on the hour and you're done until tomorrow. Razz

Hey RZR, why is Sarge's comment so hard to believe. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'm guessing he's an Aussie so it may be natural that he likes ABC the most because he sees more of his home news.

I too, watch three different channels daily, FOX, BBC, and CNN. I watch approximately five hours of news per day and I watch all three to get varying opinions. I just usually end up watching FOX the most, followed by BBC, and then a little CNN.

I'll try Al Jeezera and the Australian channel too in the future, never really thought of watching them before.

Variety is the spice of life! (Just don't let your wives and girlfriends hear you say that!) Cheers

CNN & BBC, flick between the 2 as they are next to each other. They both have some good and bad programmes/presenters.

firstly i was only jesting Wink Very Happy
& to answer your question i have never watched either fox, abc aus or al jazeera for any length of time to make a valid opinion.

i watch the news only on occasion & get the regular radio updates. most other times it is online, bbc local & national, sky, virgin media & various others.
it depends on what the story is really Very Happy

so i could only suggest a mix of the four being that the main issues are repetitive.
that way there is more chance of picking up on a story from one station/region that has little relevance to the others for whatever reason thumbs up

almost forgot, news at ten with trevor mcdonald? bong bong bong Very Happy a uk national institution Very Happy Cheers Very Happy

I thought you was a Very Happy Wink ing the funniest part of this at one point on cable all we got was fox and ABC Aus i was so brainwashed by fox when Al Jazeera came on i did not even switch to it for a few weeks after all it was an Al Quieda arm and OBL was a star on it.
What a load of politically motivated BS that was
I was flicking through the channels and up pops DAVID FROST bugger me says I the world has gone mad old FROSTY a muslim terrorist fundementalist well i listened and it was the same old david frost certainly not a facsimile
So i watched some more and lo and behold if you took the al jazeera badge of you would swear you were in blighty watching the BeeB or ITV
They also broadcast out of KL and cover Thailand quite well Aus covers Thailand well but the BEEB only if it is like now
FOX just plain dont know dont care where BKK is let alone report on it
