| Tonight is the first time ever that I couldn't connect with my local ISP here in the 038 area code. Subsequently, I am now connected via the nationwide 1222 number. Am I paying the same 3 baht to TOT or TTT for the entire time I am on, or.....(God forbid) 3 baht per minute? Pete |

1222 is the same as a local call so its 3 baht for the connection, regardless of duration. _________________ Luctor et Emergo |

Pete,
A word of advice. Never, ever use that 1222 number for a long period of time. I did and suffered the consequences.
It's dial up, horribly slow and will disconnect you after a max of two hours. My telephone bills used to be in the region of 1,500 a mth and that was at 3 baht a connection.
If you do the sums, at 2 hours a time, it meant that I was on the internet for 30 hours a day.
Go figure. _________________ "I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered". George Best. |

Thanks Lomu but I chuckle. I'm on 1222 again today/tonight and actually finding it faster than the local 038 access number. What is indeed puzzling is that I am now connected at about 44.6 and pages are coming up fast. With the local access number sometimes I get as high as 50.2 but page loading is slow. I thought it was my computer but seeing the performance in comparison now, I am indeed wondering if it is a local Pattaya/Chonburi server problem. As you know, Pattaya phone lines look like spaghetti thrown out of a B-52 and landed where they may. I just don't know the reason. I'm currently using an EGO isp dial up card as found them faster overall than True or anyone else here. I'll let you know about the bill when received. Pete ? |
