Here we bloody well go again! 
3 days without water. Tank run dry & bowsers won't come (no water!). I've spent a fortune on drinking water today for washing us & dishes, cooking & for the dogs. Can't wash their bedding. Can't wash anything properly.
At the 7-11 in Bon Kai they have set up a tent for people to sign on if they want the Tessadban to deliver water in our area. Signed on - 'Oh, we don't know. Maybe we can'. Meanwhile tourists can still take baths in hotels. People in luxury estates still have full swimming pools & can water their gardens. Golf courses still have their sprinkler systems on.
WTF is wrong with this place that tourists (& the rich!) are unaware that there is a problem, while Thai areas are completely out of water? It's estimated the supply will be back by Saturday. Oh, good!

There was a burst mains, The mains is now repaired but dependant on where you live depends when you have water again.
The water was switched on at 7.00 pm on the 26th everybody should have running water by tomorrow morning. My source was the water company.

And I think your source at the water company has terminal optimism.
Still no water here. This is the start of day 3 with a dry tank. No water bowsers, no delivery from Tessadban water (fire) trucks, though I have seen them delivering to some businesses.
For 3 days I've been using drinking water for 'ab nam' , cooking, washing dishes. The toilet is only getting flushed about once a day (lovely!  ) And the water I was using for the dogs' drinking will run out today. I haven't been able to cook rice for them (needs too much water) or wash their bedding (again, I'll run out of clean stuff today) or my clothes & littl'un's.
Does anyone have a realistic & true idea of when those of us affected by this can actually start showering, washing clothes & flushing toilets again?

Down here - 104 ish, had very low pressure for 3 \4 days now, water on but very very low.

I live at the top of Soi 102 near Immigration and was told by my neighbours on Wednesday night that no water till Saturday at the earliest.
Heard a story that a developer had broken the mains pipes nearby.
I had the water tank filled yesterday morning and also the tank of my neighbours at a cost of 350 Bt.What p****s me off is why is the developer who allegedly broke the pipe not arranging and paying for water to be delivered.

It is obvious from reading this thread that the water problem varies from area to area. We found out about the water shortage due to spotting some bowsers nearby. My partner spoke to them and got the information we needed.
If you have no water now I suggest you ring the water company and find out why there is a variation dependant on where you live.
It is better if you can get a Thai to do it I have found they seem to be more receptive to this.

My wife called the water board on Wednesday, was told it was a burst mains at Pranburi and would be back on in three days. Still nothing this morning, apart from a tiny trickle. At least it's enough to fill the toilet cistern up after 10 mins or so, but the pressure is too weak to fill the tank.
She was told that the problem is restricted to central HH - I don't know how that relates to where people experiencing problems live, but her sisters who are just north of the canal road have water. Luckily, we were able to go to one of them yesterday and get a number of largish containers filled up, so we'll be OK for domestic water needs for a few days. I sympathise with people like Dawn who are having a tough time of it at the moment.
What does occur to me is whether this has anything to do with a burst mains. In years gone by, the water board would ration the supply by zones. It would go off for 4-5 days and then come on again for 10 days and then go off again. Can anyone absolutely confirm that the mains were broken - other than hearing it from the water board?

| Our development has now drilled their own well to ensure the water supply where we live (Borfai) but I pity Dawn and anyone else who is experiencing this as I went through the same thing a number of times when I lived in Samorphong; one thing that helped (although it won't solve the immediate problem) was that the house I lived in had a tank (in addition to the mains tank) that collected rainwater - it might be worth Dawn and others to do this as well in advance of the rainy season (if they haven't already); alternatively several rain barrels dotted around, so at least there is some water available at these times. |

We've been told at work that it is the mains pipe from Pranburi that has been broken and the water will be back on 29th.
This is the Takiab end of Hua Hin, however I know people up Hin Lek Fai, soi 102 all the way to nearly the aiport that have a water problem.
I have a tank, so I'm lucky, but still sensible.
By the way - re the comment about pools - this has nothing to do with mains water, so us with pools aren't making any difference. |

The lack of water has nothing to do with a "burst main". How in the hell can it take three days to repair a burst main?
It all comes down to the incompetent management of the resources that they do have. I witnessed a perfect example of this about 10 days ago when we finally had the government "supply" connected. The PVC pipe run in from the main is about 2 inches below the ground, on the soft edge of the tarmac road, where the first truck that puts a wheel off the edge will break it. Out of the 3 bods that were "connecting it, (and this without turning off the supply), 1 sat and watched, 1 was DRUNK and the other obviously did not have a clue what he was doing! It would be very interesting to know just how much water is wasted through poorly installed infrastructure.

what is wrong with using the 23lt containers of drinking water ( 10 Baht).
I would think a houshold should be able to manage - one for the toilet one for washing and one for drinking cookink ( plus one for any animals). 30 Baht per day expensive?
ADW how do you to up your pool ?
I believe it is a requirement that every home connected to the mains water supply should have a storage tank. This is to ensure a fault inside a property ( burst/ broken pipe ) will not leak at mains pressure. This will also ensure a back up supply in the event of the mains being cut off. I have a 6000 lt concrete in ground tank at my home cost about 20k.

I do have a tank. It ran dry after 3 days of no water.
I do not have any transport, so it's difficult to bring in those heavy bottles. I have been getting one of those a day, but buying countless 6l bottles as well, as carrying 2 or 3 of those at a time home is easier than trying to lug a huge bottle. And those 6l bottles are expensive.
As for 'any' animals, it's 20+ dogs, 5 of them paraplegic, which is why I need to clean their bedding as it gets frequently soiled. Any ideas how I'm supposed to wash bedding using bottled water?
ADW, I would have been more sensible about rationing my water, had I realised there was a problem & the tank wasn't getting refilled. As it was, I spent 3 days carrying on as normal. By the time I realised there was a problem, it was too late.
I'm now wasting an entire day sitting in the house on the offchance that one of the Tessadban water trucks that I've signed on for/requested (twice) does turn up. Oh, well.
So, we're looking at tomorrow at the earliest? And probably far longer before the pressure is high enough to actually fill the tank?
