Having just read an interesting thread on here with a number of well put and very valid points, as well as some complete rubbish, I would like to ask the question from Thai posters. I look forward to the feedback and will hopefully learn something from it.

You will have problems to get an honest answer. Thais are not used to say directly what they think, especially if it could be offending to someone.

Four days on and still no response from Thai posters - starting to look as though Pitsch is right! But I'm surprised that the Understudy at least hasn't commented. Maybe worth re-wording the question Crazy? It isn't immediately clear which 'foreigners' the Q is aimed at.

Crazy 88 not married to a Thai then?? You would be able to answer the Q rather easily albeit from a different paradigm and thought process (see Pitsch comment).
Anyway how would you know the potential posters are Thai???

Not married to a Thai national but will be in the very near future. :D I have lived and worked amongst Thai people for the last 15 years or so and have a number of close Thai friends. I take Pitsch point but think that perhaps a web forum would help alleviate the cultural barrier of potentially causing offense as it is anonymous. I take MC point also and will start with English and European, US and Australian. It would also be good to know if the experience of foreigners is based on domestic tourists, expats or having lived abroad etc. As for knowing if the posters are Thai I can only hope that no Trolls pretend to be so.

At first sign Thai will think foreigners(only Farang) smart, good looking, wealth
but after that it's up to your habit.

Ps. I am Thai

Thanks Seosaro!! Always great to get a Thai point of view.

I must admit I've been treated better overall in Thailand than I get here in the states!

I have asked this to many thai girls, the first thing they think is Farang = ATM.

When you go out they expect you to pay for everything, even if some thai men join the party. Then i asked a friend of mine and she said that they expect the farang to pay for everything but normally when they stay with thai people they will share the bill and split it, with girls or mens in the same group. If a farang join the group they will wait him to pay for everything and ask him to do so. She said that if someone has money he should pay for others. Farang are considered as rich automaticly, she also said that rich thai men is expected to pay too, like a farang, even a rich thai girl should pay for the group.

Have some exceptions for sure, but this is from my experience. That's why i prefer to limit my thai friends, i want to be sure they really want to be my friends and not only expects me to pay for them. I had some good experiences too, but it's like 20% good and 80% bad.

I believe that is because we are considered as rich automaticly that they will act like this, and yes we normally have more money than thai people (not everytime). I personnally don't like this, if i need to pay for everyone i will loss my money, i prefer use it for usefull things.
