Vietnamese/Korean language teacher

Any Farang or English speaking Thai want to study Vietnamese? I am a native speaker and would turtor you during the time I am in Hua Hin next month. If you want to study basic Korean, I can do a good job too.

Hi Bamboo,

Hourly rate for 1 student: 250 Baht; For 2 or more students: 200 Baht.

Anyway, the rates are not fixed, we can always negotiate. I need something to do during 1 month in Hua Hin.

Hi Bamboo,

My plan was slightly changed, I will spend some time in Bangkok upon arriving and expect to be in Hua Hin on July 11 i/o July 01. Will leave on July 31.

I don't know what your purpose of studying Vietnamese for. If it's only for your visit to Vietnam in the future, I suggest you study pidgin, you can learn a lot with the little time we have. Vietnamese is supposed to be one of the most difficult languague in the world, it will take a lot of your time to study from the basic.

Well, my purpose is to learn the pronunciation and basic vocabulary. I am already doing some business in Vietnam and hope to expand that in the future. Don't worry about the pidgin, I'd like to study the real alphabets. At one stage of my life (before becoming a tramp) I was majoring in Chinese. I also know the basics of Korean and Japanese as well as the Thai alphabets, so I don't think this is a problem. My only worry is that your time here is now very short and I'm not sure if that will give me the basics I need.

Well, if you already have that much experience in studying foreign languages, I believe it will not take you a long time to learn Vietnamese. Do you mind studying everyday? Rolling Eyes

Unfortunately studying every day is not possible. I was thinking about maybe twice a week, but three weeks seems to be a too short period of time. Hmm, maybe later if you come for a longer period of time. Razz

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the modern Vietnamese developed by the missionaries decades ago is based upon the western ABC alphabet and grammer rules? If so, then I imagine the hardest task is getting to grips with vocabulary. Pete

It was created by a French missionary so I should expect some of the vowel and vowel combinations are written the way the French would pronounce them. However, it also uses tone marks above or under the vowels and those are probably the most difficult ones (along with the vowels) to do on your own. I don't think that the grammar has anything to do with any western language, though. Maybe Floral girl will explain this better than I.

Oh right, it should be free, Bamboo can use the money to pay for internet and international phone calls instead. LOL! JK!

Anyway, welcome to the HHAD. It seems like that you and me are the only Vietnamese in here. I was in Hua Hin for my summer holiday on July, never saw any Vietnamese around although an Indian friend said there were many in his college in Cha Am.

Chao Floral, some people believe that I'm a fat Farang in Hua Hin I start liking this image.

I met many Vietnamese in Thailand during my 1 and a half year living there. Also met many Viet Kieu in Pattaya- Chaam, Chiang Mai even 1 in Nong Kai, the 2 and 3 generation, they keep speaking Vietnamese and cook Vnese food.

Vietnamese they are everywhere, It's funny but I met a VNese family in an island of Finland where there are only 6 - 7 families.

Did you enjoy your summer in Hua Hin. It's a good destination to stay in door and sleep... zzzzz

Linktolinh, I will return to the subject of learning Vietnames later, I'm now in BKK and a bit busy. Guess there is a group of islands called Aland which belong to Finland (between Finland and Sweden) where almost all inhabitants speak Swedish.
