Travelling on 31rst Dec. & 1rst Jan. ?

I plan to travel from HH to BKK - by bus - on the 31rst of Dec.
and from BKK to Chiang May - by train - on the 1rst of Jan.
Any comments on that ?
How are regular transports working on that period ?
Will the train booking be difficult if done on 23rd Dec ?

Buses and Trains are very busy during that period. You will have to book well in advance. Would suggest that 23 Dec will be too late.

Absolutely as above.
The period over Xmas and NY is mayhem travelling wise just as it is in the western world. So any travel arrangements must be made well in advance.
A tip is that even if you've got a ticket it dosn't necessarily mean you've got your seat. Just barge and etc etc, like the rest of them and maybe you'll get to sit down.
