Now then, we've got two televisions in our house, one that's in the front room and one in the bedroom.
This was in an attempt to avert a clash of personalities over something so trivial as TV.
So, I'm left sitting here in the hot house, putting on music and bothering all and sundry who look at HHAD whilst my wife lives a life of luxury in an air-con room watching soaps.
I feel hard done by and wonder if anyone can advise me on how to rectify the situation?
PS. Now that the World Cup means nothing to me and Portugal got knocked out (my wife was supporting Portugal for sadistic reasons), we've got nothing to watch together.
Hence, more Led Zepplin.
Any suggestions are welcome.

If you have internet access where you are, download some new music. I love Led Zeppelin too, but you can tire of the same stuff. If you like LZ, you've probably also got:-

Boston
Deep Purple
Whitesnake
Foreigner
Iron Maiden
Dio
Sabbath
Rainbow
even Uriah Heep

If you haven't, get downloading!!

Can pass hours by . . . Very Happy

If that is not of interest, have a few beers. Cheers

try having 2 browsers open, 1 so you HHAD the hours away and 1 where you can surf porn.

and Led Zep can grate a bit after several of Jon Bonham's 8 hour drum solos. Chill out with some James Taylor and a Singha.

I'll bring a sudoko disc over in September if that'll help?

Buy another air con unit and maybe install it in a separate house! Shocked

Hi lomuamart,
I sometimes have the same problem with those endless thai soaps, and we only have one TV .
I have a tactic which sometimes works, I feign an interest in the program (not easy I admit!) and I ask endless questions, and require everything to be translated as I speak no Thai. I also drown out all the dialogue with helpful comments such as, “When are they going to; get married; have a car crash; go to hospital; get caught by the husband; get pregnant etc. etc. etc.”
After about half an hour my partner gets bored with this, and admits that going down the pub is a good idea after all!

Hi lomuamart;

I remembered during our family reunion and we all got away to a nice beautiful resort of Samui island during one of the New year festival. We supposed to have a gala diner to celebrate a New Year Eve. My sister and my sister in law and her kids were in the hotel room were watching the final episode of one of Thai soap opera. Now my sister live in one of foreign country, she spends time from 2 am to 6 am to watch thai soap either from CD rental or from internet computer and my sister in law in Thailand can answere me any question that whom sleep with whom and whom got divorce etc.

thumbs up
Thanks for the replies. They made me chuckle.
An air con unit in the front room is something I've considered, but the electricity bills would be even higher than usual and my missus would probably insist on watching soaps in here, so I wouldn't win. This "little bit of England" is the only escape I have!!
Download music. I like that one, but I'm in Thailand so my internet connection is not exactly quick. And the powers that be will probably block access to stop me enjoying myself. Shocked
The possible solution I do like is Steve G's. I've tried this on many ocassions and it generally works. Ie, have a go at the pasty-faced Bangkokians. Ask what's happening. Ask why they are always fighting. Ask why they believe in ghosts. Ask why they're speaking in Thai etc etc. As I say, it normally works, but I have to withstand some ultraviolence every now and then.
I'm now considering simply not paying the cable tv bill so we get cut off. However, I think this may backfire as she'll still be able to watch free Thai tv and I won't have any option at all.
What's tv like in Outer Mongolia? I hear Ulan Batar is quite nice at this time of year, but I doubt they'll let me download Black Sabbath.

When I mentioned about downloading music, you can do it legally. Yes, there are the "music sharing" sites, but I normally use itunes. In UK you pay 79p per track or you can buy a whole album and download it.

Speed may be an issue if you only have dial-up speed, but it works.

Individual tracks are great - so often in the past I've had to buy a whole CD for maybe 1 or 2 tracks that I like.

Mentioned before, take a week and come to Pattaya Lomu. Not crowded and you can get a nice hotel room for small satang. Tell her you're going to investigate something for business or whatever. Better yet, the Pattaya Marathon is July 16, tell her you've entered. Very Happy Pete

Tantamount to suicide for Lomu that one!! He would do rather well in a Chang marathon mind.
Lomu you could try this one - just as she starts to watch her soap, snuggle up beside her and act horny, stick yer tongue in her ear or something - she'll be off like a scalded cat!
