Does anyone know of any good cooking classes in Hua Hin? I would perfer a home style if possible instead of one that the larger hotels run as I find them too expensive and only go through a couple of dishes before there food service starts again.

Appreciate any feedback.

Cheers,

Fleet Ho

Hi Bamboo Grove,

Sounds interesting and I would love to get more information on what you have to offer.

At this stage I am planning around the 1st July to 3rd or 4th of July. I am waiting to finalise some plans with some friend that are coming up to BKK before the HH trip so it is likely to be a week or so before I know some definite dates.

I look forward to recieving your info and will be in touch.

Regards,

Fleet

Usually we've had a four course meal that we teach how to cook. But it's up to you, really. If you have any wishes what you'd like to learn, let me know. The usual session is
Tom Yam Gong Shrimp soup Or Tom Kha Kai (chicken/coconut soup)
Chicken with basil leaves (Phat kraphao kai)
Pork in Phanaeng Curry (Phanaeng Moo, Penang curry)
Chinese Cale in Oyster Sauce
But if you wish to do something else or additional just let me know.

Hi Bamboo,

It all sounds very interesting. What is the cost and duration of your cooking classes? How available are your course? How much notice do you require?

I am a reasonable cook (not professionally trained but self taught) and would like to get into making traditional curry (red and green)pastes. Also some Thai salads, what you are suggesting also sounds good.

Are you Thai or Farang?

Regards,

Fleet

The cost depends on your requirements. For the standard course mentioned above it is 900 baht/person. No minimum persons, if you want to do it on your own, it's ok. Inform me preferably a couple of days in advance. Thai salads no problem, just let me know what you're thinking. It usually takes about 3-4 hours as we start with a visit to the local market. I'm a Guava but my missus who shows how to do it is Thai, I'll be doing the explanations and translations where required.

Hi Bamboo,

Sorry for the delay in responding to your last post however I have been travelling a bit the last few days.

Thanks for all that I am very interested and will take at least a day cooking class with you. I might do two if time permits.

What is the best way to contact you when I finally know my travel plans to HH? Do you have phone number that you can PM me so I could ring you a few days ahead after I have nailed the HH travel details?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Fleet

Hi Bamboo,

Apologies for not getting back earlier to you. I did not finish getting down to HH on my recent trip to Thailand. I hope that sometime next year I will be back and catch up for the cooking course if you are still doing them.

I finished up spending more time in ChiangMai wher I did a 3 day coooking cooking which was excellent too.

Thanks for making the cooking class available.

Regards

Fleet Ho

I see the posts are a little old, so I want to renew the question.

My wife and I will be in HH in January and I would like to have cooking lessons for here and I to enjoy. I have heard that some to in-villa teaching. Is there any recommendations for a teacher to to come to our villa to teach? If not any suggestions on non-commercial or hotel style cooking lessons?

Thank you,
Jay
