Well mate, since this is a community forum why don't you share with the rest of us exactly where we can get a safe and comfortable taxi to the Big Mango for 1500 baht? You'll save us 500 baht each time.

Sciamachy,
I do believe the people of this good forum are asking you to 'put up or shut up' about being able to get a taxi between Bangkok and Hua Hin for 1300 baht; so in other words, either give us all the name and number of the guy who does this wonder deal or no one on here will believe you! Shoot em up

He's clearly a wind up mechant - not worth the time of day. I'm just off to that new bar now where they're selling Singha at 15 Baht a bottle.

1300 Poonsuk road opposite the City Hotel at the little stall.

1500, any number of street taxi stalls -- just bargain and when they say 2000 pretend like you know they are trying to gauge you (because they are).

thumbs up

My taxi to BKK (airport) in September cost 1,700B. I do know a lady in HH who only pays 1,300 but they wouldn't do it for me for that much!

For those not familiar, The Dusit Thani BKK is right at the interection of Rama IV and Silom across from Lumpini park. Sky train right there and perhaps the subway as well, not sure about that, also taxis, the odd Tuk Tuk and MC taxi's. You can get anywhere from there pretty quickly. Pete Cheers

I not sure if this is the same thing, but Hua Hin Tours and Travel used to run a minibus to Bangkok for 600 baht. It was door to door from major hotels at either end, as long as you booked in advance. The only disadvantage was that if you were the last drop off in Bangkok, you could have a lengthy tour of Bangkok traffic jams.

I think that Taxi rates have gone up a lot in the last few months as there have been some fairly large increases in Petrol and Diesel prices. I was using a Toyota Wish on my last visit. A full tank got me to Hua Hin and back from Bangkok(area near old(sadly) Airport). A tank of gas was Baht 1100, so that does not leave much of a wage for the driver if you are expecting a ride for B1300.

That's a good point and it doesn't even take into account baht per kilometer he should be calculating for wear & tear and maintenance costs on the vehicle. I'm years out of date but I think the last time I looked at the USA tax charts for business use of a vehicle, the per mile deduction was around $.60. That's when fuel was low, not it's probably about $1.00. Pete Cheers

2000 baht is the norm for a reasonably comfortable journey
