Sin Sot? Weddings and other costs

Gents..,

Its getting to the point now that im considering the one knee scenario. I know i have to be prepared for sin sot. I discussed this with the girlfriends mum very briefly and she said she only has one daughter (4 older brothers OUCH all older than me, I am only 5 weeks older than the mrs) so it would be a massive party and she would kill 3 buffalo. She did also say that the Sin Sot would only be for show and they are just happy that my girlfriend is marrying a jai dee man, they never call me farang only the babies do but they get let off..! The first time my girlfriend told her mum she loved me, her mother told her never to refer to me as farang but always by my name. I like her mum..!

Anyway what is the story with Sin Sot - who has and who hasnt and what did it cost. I am going to have to consider the cost of the wedding also.
