Someone else mentioned that the number of idiots on this board increases at this time of year, its probably in sync with the same effect in town.

Now your average tourist with 2.4 kids, family saloon and pet Labrador is precisely what the tourism board of any country is crying out for.

I'm not sure it prefers the likes of these specimens though:

1) Falangs that think its hip to speed around on a motorcycle they're not qualified to drive with no helmet on.

2) Falangs that think Thailand is great because the beer and women are cheap and freely available.

3) Falangs that think that roads are for walking on in Asia.

4) Falangs that tip more than cost of the meal "because its cheap".

5) Falangs that are queuing in the Polyclinic with road rash because they have been doing number 1.

6) Falangs that stroll around town in their swim wear because they did it in the Algarve.

7) Falangs that live here and moan about the tourists because thats what they used to be.

Cool Falangs that moan more about the high season because without it this town would still have a population of about 15,000.

All in jest folks.
Cheers

agree fully.

Razz some lets say europeans think there tom cruise--- 90kg plus beerbelly, no shirt, fadded tattoo's 60+ with cute 18+ thai girl,

Sorry to burst your bubble but get a life. a woman in your own country would n't look twice at you, Razz

should increase the fine for no shirt, no helmet, maybe 2 days in jail with no boom boom, might do the trick.

Cheers Thank god for tourism Cheers

Is there any point to these two rants?

You guys need to get real about who can afford to get to Hua Hin and it may not be the 2.4 kid families for a while if prices in the UK and elsewhere keep increasing and the economy gets rocky as appears to be happening.

Petrol is now about 7p a litre more expensive than it was a few weeks ago, and diesel even more so and other prices for essentials seem on the rise across the board, those who have fixed rate mortgages that have just expired or will expire in the next 12 months will face a big increase in their monthly repayments (I read how many that was somewhere, but can't find it, but it was a significant number). Stealth taxes are forever on the up and there's likely to be a big hike in local taxes from April, unless the Govt. restrict it, but they will probably still allow up to a 5% increase.

I'm on a reasonable salary, more than double the national average and my (Thai) wife is here with me in the UK and works part time, no other real committments (apart from to the Building Society). But in real terms, with the % salary increase I have recently had, I'm actually now worse off than I was 12 months ago and that saw me worse off than the previous 12 months.

So things are getting tight and whether you like it or not, one of the attractions about many areas of LOS is that once you get there, the costs are cheap. Personally, I'm surprised about the hike in hotel room rates locally and I posted about that elsewhere.

And who exactly has Thailand been catering for since the original R&R trips from Vietnam? Cesspits like Pattaya and other areas like those in Bkk, and even a lot of the bars in HH haven't been set up and allowed to thrive with the average family in mind, have they - hows that then?

Driving without helmets? Pleeeaaase! Just look at the average overloaded Thai bike, or the crap vehicles on the road.

What these gripes are about are your personal likes and dislikes (and I agree about "topless" - there was a long thread about this a while ago).

Your comments are no worse than other expats/farangs who rant, "lets pull down the piers and have a nice concrete prom (oh lovely)", "lets get rid of the bars", lets change this and that until I, as a nimby, have everything as I want it as I am here now.

It may well be that HH is seeking to cater for a different cliental, but that will change the town in any case and may impact on those expats already there in a way that might not be beneficial and not be to your liking either.

He bought a Jack and Coke in one bar and then walked accross the road to a more expensive bar, drink in hand, proceeded to drink half his drink then had the audacity to ask for a top up of ice in the expensive bar.
UTTERLY DISGRACEFUL.

To top it all off, when he went he left the glasss from the first bar in the second bar, despite our advice to return it to it's rightful owners.

This 'man' is a major figure on HHAD.

Do you anything to say in your defence Mr Romford Barrowboy Essex Lad ??

Burger the bellend.

Is it really worth debating anyone with this mentality?

Had to comment on this. I myself and many other falangs have a UK motorcycle license. Show me a Thai with a motorbike license. The Thais may be skilled drivers, due to the fact that they've been doing it a long time but they're also slightly crazy on the road. Many a time I've come close to hitting a Thai on a moped, never a falang. Plus, I've met lots of Thais with motorbike related injuries. We're not retarded falangs on motorbikes, we can ride them too!

Kelpiekiss please let me inform you the thais do have licences the thai govt had a clampdown and they were putting 200 plus a day through the system because at that time less than 10% had them. Now the test at that time was not so difficult and although it is now more difficult than then they had to start somewhere.
As for falang drivers let me say i call the ones in SUVs fag paper drivers because thats all the room they will give a bike when overtaking. Shocked Shocked Confused
As for qualified owning a licence doesnt mean much when a 65 yearold geriatric is zipping along at speed on his 650cc zimmer frame. lach

Sarge,
If anyone is using a Zimmer as a penis extension (as opposed to a Porsche or Ferrari), he deserves all of our sympathy & he can do whatever he likes (or spell it however he likes) Mr. Green

I'd really like to meet the man who is using his Zimmer frame as a Porsche or Ferrari - he'd merit my everlasting admiration!

As somebody recently mentioned, isn't the English language wonderful?

(Sorry, Dawn, but I just couldn't resist it...) naughty bow
