In the spirit of what they selected for the 'world' last night, we should try to compile a list for Thailand.
This is serious now. Perhaps later we can compile a 'comic' version in Foo which shouldn't be too difficult.
So, what do we start with, in no special order or rank?
1) The Emerald Buddha
2) The Royal Barges
Maybe we can do a poll with all selections to give them a 1 to 7 ranking once we see all that are nominated. Pete _________________ "What America needs is a huge hypodermic needle of morality." Alice Cooper 21 Sept. 2007 |

Unfortunately, considering its history, the Bridge on the Kwai. I know architecturely it's nothing, but think of the tourism it attracts.
Never been there, but wouldn't parts of Ayuttahya rate a mention?
Wat Arun, Bangkok
The Summer Palace, here in Hua Hin (the Teak one) _________________ "The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk? But, can they suffer?" - Jeremy Bentham, philosopher, 1748-1832

| Phanung Rhung, the Kmer temple in Buriram, a smaller version of Ankhor Wat on a hill; a spectacular bit of construction considering how remote it is. |

I'm starting to get lost. Maybe good if we can post up a photo of the nominations if anyone has one? Pete _________________ "What America needs is a huge hypodermic needle of morality." Alice Cooper 21 Sept. 2007 |

Yes, that one is truly beautiful. I can't actually remember which one got my vote, but it was between that one & Jaime's kids for me. _________________ "The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk? But, can they suffer?" - Jeremy Bentham, philosopher, 1748-1832

Yeah, I've been up there before, Steve G. It's regarded as being the best restored Khmer temple/wat/prasat in Thailand. Once I'd got over the walk up the steps in the heat, the view over the Dongkrek hills into Cambodia was breathtaking.
I'd also like to see Prasat Wihan. It used to be on the Cambodian side and when I was visiting Buriram province regularly a few years ago, I think it was pretty easy to cross the border.

I haven't yet but I will try to get there next time I'm up in Issan, our place is in Nong Ki which is less than an hours drive to the Cambodian border. |

The first time I went to Nana and Soi Cowboy (as a single man) I would have sworn they were one of the seven wonders .
Now that I'm more mature (yea sure) and soon married, it doesn't qualify. |
