I haven't lived on an estate that has actually used any security but have seen a few. To be honest the ones I have seen have not been very good and are normally sitting inside little huts or asleep.
If I was you I would walk around town until I saw someone who looked as if they could do the job and approach them (or have a Thai do it)
I seem to remember there was an advert in the observer recently advertising a security service.
I would have thought a wage of between 6 - 10,000 a month would cover it.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but your lack of response to this question prompted me to have a stab at it..... _________________ Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly!

I'm a bit confused. Which development is it? Does it have a "developer?"
Does this developer not want to service his clients? Does this developer not charge you a fee each month for "services?"

We pay 9000 baht pr month for each guard to our security company.
Of those 9000 the guard gets 8000 and the security firm 1000.
We have 4 guards thus paying 36000 Baht pr month.
Each household pays 500 Baht pr month for security, cleaning and maintenance of the joint property.
Have no idea of the name of the security company as this is organized by our developer. _________________ I intend to live forever -- so far, so good. |

While it might be a waste of time, I would try to hire a staff directly by contacting retired military men. If they have retired from military service, they should be more disciplined than most.
There are large military bases all over the place. _________________ Beware of unprovoked comments! |

Why retired military men? When my wife put together a huge party in her village that went on for a couple of days, she actually hired the military for security.
We got an officer (maybe NCO) who did the organising, and he ensured around the clock cover. Most people in Thailand seem to like the idea of a little extra cash, so why not have the military moonlighting?
Incidently, they were very good, breaking up a couple of drunken skirmishes very efficiently. _________________ Green Army position 10 2007/08

| The police in Hua Hin are able to organise security for private property as well. I've been told they're more reliable than many security companies, perhaps they have more resources. |

When Mrs.T and I bought our first property in HH it was on a Thai development. The developer even appeared on local TV saying how good the security was.
This was true - at first.
The BIB were around 4 times a day and signed a little visit book on the lamp post opposite our house.
Needless to say, when the developer moved on, and stopped paying the BIB - they no longer appeared. _________________ Terry Theobald

Thanks Randy, and indeed to all of you for having a stab at this one, your ideas will prove to be useful I am sure.
Our developer has moved one, and so we will be responsible for making our own arrangements for services, maintenance & security.
I am sure that I will be asking for more advice soon!!!!!
Thanks again
