How much per annum to put a 12 year old Thai into a good school here including books and uniform?

Depends on what you believe is a good school.
From 12G up to 100G I believe.
Thai private schools are quite a lot less expensive than foreign schools.
Boarding schools or living together with you?
Give us a bit more info please.

Are you talking in Hua Hin itself, Richard? The likes of Salesian, Somtawin (non English) or even Yamsaard?

The best you're going to get in HH is Somtawin or Yamsaard - both cost approx 70k per year, more info here:

You will also find a cheap, but very good private school in Hua Hin.
The Darunsuksa School.
Their price is under 6000 Bt pr year, included 3 uniforms and books.
For around 1000 Bt extra they have a program called Yamaha Extra which gives the pupils extra lessons in English, music and sport.
