Hi everyone,i'm new to the site and would appreciate your advice please.
I've bought a place in Cha am and will be coming over in the next couple of weeks to furnish it etc. Please could you advise the best set up to get for TV viewing over there.
As we're probably only going to be in our place for a month or two per year initially(retiring there eventually ),don't really want to pay a years subscription when we won't be there to use it. My wifes Thai, so we would like to have something with a bit of both Thai & western programming in it.
Just wondered if there was such a thing along the lines of 'Pay as you go' TV?
Any advice is appeciated,thanks.
Great site by the way!

I think there is an initial 6 month minimum offer with UBC, thereafter you can pay monthly as and when you or tenants are there. _________________ ดวงขึ้น

You can get cable by the month, but next to nothing apart from news in English, _________________ Green Army position 22

I just moved to HH in March and when I initially subscribed to UBC it was payable monthly. _________________ A fool and his money are soon partying! |

I made a decision when I came to Thailand, that I was not going to watch TV but spend the time doing other things. I only use it to watch about 1 dvd a month. Of course the girlfriend watches it....
But seriously its like anything, you can just say NO... there are many other better things to fill your time. TV is a load of tripe anyway. _________________ Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly!

| Im with Randy on this one. Me and gf have a telly. It sits in a corner and gets ignored mostly. We don't drink. Plenty of cool stuff to get up to. Bollocks to the idiot box. |

UBC is now TRUE, they bought it about 8 months back. All the new red dishes you see getting put up are True/UBC.
There is J-Sat Asia with the very big house dishes. Some of the bar owners should be able to tell you about this. Much of the feed is from South Africa and about 250 free to air channels. A lot of sports. Don't know the fees. I think there is a web site if you google it.
The only other one I've seen on some houses is a blue dish from SAMART. I think the channel selection is very limited, about 10. Pete
