Has anyone ever seen these in Thailand (let alone Hua Hin)? I would like to get one (and I'm sure there are other expats that would too) so if anyone has managed to get hold of one in Thailand can they please let me know where and how much? Alternatively has anyone found a website that will deliver these to Thailand without an excessive delivery charge? The final alternative would be to get one made here, so does anyone know of a 'man that can' make something like this?

Lads any good DIY store or hardware store will sell them. What you are looking for is a rotary clothes line/hoist.
The ones most people in Aus use are Hills Hoist's or there is a company called Austral that also make them over here.

You can get either fixed ones where you cannot collapse the arms or remove it from the ground, or you can get a removable/collapsable one.
They range from about $250 upwards from what I can see.

The likes of Tesco, Makro or any type of good hardware store should be able to help.

Because they tend to take up a lot of the garden at times, the ones people are leaning to now is a foldown one that bolts to the outside wall of the house. Much better all round as the fold down flat to the wall after you have finished using them.

They are also normally cheaper than the ones that you are asking about. I will see what I can find about any overseas suppliers.

Here is a catalogue of what you can buy over here.
http://www.australclotheshoists.com.au/
May I suggest that you print off a few pictures and take them with you when you go shopping.

People may recognise in the pictures what you want and have it on the shelf, but not understand what you are asking for.
I am sure if you email that company they will be able to put you in contact with someone closer at your end of the world.

One other suggestion, do any of the show houses on the new estates have anything like what you want on display with the homes.
I am sure a quick word with the show house agent will find you the supplier.

Wanderlust, never stand outside with your arms up in the air, the wife might start hanging clothes on you as a punishment for not supplying what she has asked for.

chelsea,
I already googled it and found the Aussie ones online but none of them had either details of Thai stockists or any hint that they could be shipped overseas. My wife had never seen one until she came to the UK last September, and we were tempted to buy one to bring back, but it would have put us well over our baggage allowance! I am afraid to say that niggle is probably right in that they are just not available here, which is why I added my other 2 questions - so expats in Hua Hin, who can recommend a good man/shop to make one for me? Or does anyone know of an online resource that would ship such an item to Thailand?

The stainless steel shop that advertises on here could probably make you one. The problem would be what to use for the the small gearbox that raises the rotating part higher/lower.

WL I have emails Austral's to ask if they know of any suppliers in Thailand as I think most of the products are all made offshore now anyway.

Have you tried HomePro on the market village, all of those style of shops sell them over here. Will post the reply when I get it

If H20 Dunc is out there ? Ask Ginger Mark where he got his .Personally I have no Idea why anybody would want one when a full household of people can get all laundry picked up,laundered, pressed where required, fabric conditioned, then dropped off with nice clothes in individual plastic sleeves for 1000 thb per month including bedding .

By the time you include detergent and electric I must be wasting nearly tuppence per week .If ,however, you live in the stix and do not want your clothes smashed between a couple of rocks on the riverbank then these things do exist but are a bitch to find .Hopefully H20dunc and mark will reveal the details .

If I see any on my travels I will grab a few and anyone who wants one can have it for cost plus a beer !

Agreed Crazy 88 - Why?
Still, theres no accounting for the things some farangs need for a happy and contented lifestyle. My pet whinge used to be the scarcity of slow cookers.
Found a great roller mop bucket in the Mall once, and thinking how it would make life so much easier for my staff snapped it up. The girl at the checkout asked what it was for, which resulted in a strange demonstration.
Then had to demonstrate it to my girls. It went down like a cup of cold sick. They used it once just to be nice, then reverted to slopping a wet mop all over the place.

ROLLER MOP BUCKET ! Nice try Margaret ,if a bit ambitious .After 12 years I now have the best and most reliable cleaner and general help I could ever have imagined I would find .

Diamond that she is,can she remember to clean the top of the fridge ? Impossible ! Other than that she is perfect .
