My missus was returning from work last night at about 11pm. Three of her work collegues were in front on another motorcycle. Some little prat comes tearing out of a side road and smashed broadside into the front bike.
Despite the time of night, the police were on the scene fairly quickly and the interesting point was the the youngster was breathalysed. Needless to say, off his head.
So, he will have spent at least a night in the monkey house. The point is, that whilst I know that breathalysers exist over here, this is about the only time I've ever heard of one being used.
Also, I wonder what the penalties are?
BTW, no serious injuries. One of the girls was taken to San Paulo and needed her knee stitched up. Cost her 4,000 Baht!!! I wonder if our inebriated boy racer will foot that bill? I doubt it. |

I know they're pretty tough on it in Bangkok, but as you say its the first I've heard of testing here. Not a bad thing mind you, it shows that the police are actually doing their jobs for once.
He'll prolly get a night in the clink and a couple of hundred baht fine, that should keep him off the lao khao until the weekend. |
