How much do they earn in reality ?

Take away the fact that a lot of soft twats pull girls off a pole in bar and tell all their mates they met them in a department store/optician shop .Then buy/build them the biggest house in the village and more gold than Cleopatra would wear at a state function .

I asked the owner of the most expensive venue in samui (bar fine 700 split 50/50,fee for dancing a few hundred a night,absolute minimum 2000 directly to the girl,many3500 .) what the girls earned a month .Peak season 80-90k for the top girls 25-35 for the rest .Low season half at best .It is the busiest bar on the main strip .

So c'mon bar owners .What do the girls earn here on a monthly year round average ?

Bet it is a pittance considering the nature of the job .

Not thinking of changing trades,just curious .

the going rate here in HH is 1000bht a night high season or low....so the most a lass is looking at earning in cash would be 30K or so a month IF she worked every night....which is unlikely. Even the busiest lasses in HH probably work 20 or so days a month....not easy work but relatively high earnings for lasses who left school at 14 and have families to support.

The smart ones save money and/or meet a boyfriend and eventually take up another trade.

Might not go down too well at the church fete I agree (be a lot of hypocrisy floating in the air as you rightly point out.)Many of my friends have returned home to the same reactions with TG/wife .

Bars were GB Lounge and Dreamgirls .Soi Green Mango Chaweng .I do not know if either are still there or if expat regulars get better rates .

However, I do agree that a discussion of this nature should be there. Perhaps any of you interested in the prices charged by bar girls & what service is provided for that, should start a thread discussing that there, and the rest of us get

Thanks for those statistics but they really don't prove a point either way because of the way they have been compiled; the age group 15 - 64 is too wide for what we are talking about; really we would need the breakdown for about 20 to 40 I think. It is interesting to note though the difference between birth ratios and the over 15 figures, which indicates a lot of male deaths after 15. This might be normal but it strikes me as being odd - it would be interesting to compare this with road death statistics which I suspect might be the reason. It is also entirely possible that these figures are inaccurate, even though the source is the CIA (wikipedia have rounded the figures too - the actual ones are: Sex ratio: at birth: 1.05 male(s)/female
under 15 years: 1.047 male(s)/female
15-64 years: 0.976 male(s)/female
65 years and over: 0.834 male(s)/female
total population: 0.979 male(s)/female (2007 est.))
For anyone that is confused by these, it represents a ratio of the number of males for every 100 females, so in the 15 - 64 age group in 2007 there were estimated to be 97.6 males for every 100 females..
