The old Motorola has bitten the dust so I need a new phone. Checked out www.siamphone.com to see whats available and there are hundreds of them so looking for recommendations as I know you all have one!

What I need:
Basic services, calls and SMS, calendar, clock, alarm
Internet capability and browser
SMTP and POP3 email

What I don't need:
Camera
MP3 player
Games
Video player
GPS
Nuclear submarine tracking system

Budget is around 6-8k and I prefer Nokias as their predictive text SMS system is good. Also would prefer to buy in Hua Hin so I can gripe at someone if it breaks!

In the market myself as mine is acting like HAL from 2001 at the moment .

Need camera, bluetooth, internet and virtually bulletproof construction .I have seen one nokia that fits the bill but cannot find the model number .Marketed as a "builders phone" abroad I've been told .Rather have a Samsung as I am used to them .

Any Ideas ?

I don’t think they make that Nokia shockproof phone anymore, I think it was a 5210. We used to have them around work and they were pretty indestructible. I remember someone dropping one off the tail of a 747 and it still worked!

my last 5 phones have been samsungs, currently got the g600.
excellent all round phone, got all the neccessaries (5mp camera) & it is quite robust for a slide phone.
shock proof? well i have dropped it a few times & once down a flight of stairs. it somersaulted a few times & crashed into the front door Embarassed
was still still working though thumbs up

Hi there Buksida!

I'm the same opinion like JW that the 6300 would be ideal for you! JW Sir I can still remember the Banana Phone by Nokia some of my friends from STF Campus back in the days. Aehh I can remember that the case use to shine decently in to colors. I always wanted this Phone cause of its Big Screen.

The thing I like about these new phones is that if you stick a 2gb memory card in them you can store a ridiculous amount of information. I’ve got a Nokia E51 stuffed with flight schedules, airport departures, bus and train timetables and other data, and the memory is no where near full.
