Hi,

I miss my Real roast beef and yorkshires care of Simpsons in the Strand, all good pubs in Yorkshire, carveries in Cardiff. Special mention for a place in Elland for Yorshire pudding starters, followed by roast beef and yorkshire followed by yorkshire pudding as a sweet with syrup

Also miss my fish and chips, although Richard's place behind the Hilton does a good job, but for me Harry Ramsdens just north of Leeds and the Gainsborough in Hull can't be beaten. Cod,chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and a mug of strong Yorkshire tea

Anybody want to set up in business???

Maybe I need a trip home!!!

Simpsons, reminds of a situation where I had to entertain a load of Korean Senior Business Ecexutives who were desperate to spend about 250 millioin bucks with my company. When the topic of lunch came up they all asked to be taken to an English restaurant and eat real English food. Well I have had some challenges in my life but this one was enormous. In had a whole department of secretaries and junior staff scouring travel guides and golden pages to locate one and they all came up with zilch. Then some bright spark ( a barrow boy futures trader mate phoned me up to arrange our weekly piss up and I asked him if he could think of anywhere suitable. The only two he was aware of were the Pie and Mash shop in 'aggerston near 'ackney and Simpsons. So we ended up at Simpsons. What and amazing experience. You get these blokes coming round with completely roasted whole furry creatures (with the fur removed but head and tail still in place) and then they would cut slices of its carcass and lay it on your plate with a couple of Yorkies (puddings that is, not blokes with handkerchiefs on their heads and ferrets in their trouser pockets) and a few vegetables which I guess were just for decoration. THe Koreans loved it, I suppose it made a nice change from dog.

Any we ain't got one of them in Hua Hin so you will have to make do with Jungle Juice, a mere stones throw from Richards chippy and easily found on the HHAD Map.

If anyone is hankering after a bit of British grub, the Lord Nelson on Soi Selakam does a fair meat pie with mushy peas and chips.

I regularly eat Yorkshire puddings with roast beef, dished up by my Thai wife! I taught her how to make them about 3 years ago.
As for the beef ( unless you buy imported ) I go to a stall on the market in Huahin and buy a full fillet of beef, it's the nearest I've ever bought to top-side and makes great gravy.
The best time is around Christmas when you can buy fresh brussel sprouts, I also buy the "white turnips" and mix with carrots, a dash of pepper and a knob of butter.
Apple crumble and custard for dessert.
Onlyme. Very Happy

My Thai boyfriend used to love pork pie with salad, pickled onions & Branston. His other favourite was full English breakfast (eaten for dinner, as, being a musician, he was never up for breakfast). He absolutely adored English food, chops, roasts etc. It was me who liked the spicy stuff! Wink
