Hi guys
Could anyone tell me if the Burma border is still open for visa runs from Ranong. Have to go in the next few days but wandering if its been closed due to the cyclone? _________________ Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact |

Nothing will change there man, same as always, nobody is welcome. Even Ang Sung Su Chi said on the TV to wait until the polital hassle is all over before you go to Burma.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but there must be other options. |

I'm sure Ranong is still open. The cyclone hit much further to the north. Even Mae Sai is open, according to reports. If you want to double check, here's Ranong Imm number:

has anyone spent a night on the Burma side of Ranong? If so what hotel, etc is recommended? _________________ Faced with what is right, to leave it undone shows a lack of courage. |

Thanks guys although I never got around to checking this thread before going down. Anyway, did the Anderman club route and everything was just as it always is - quick and easy.
To the last question on here, yes I have spent a night on the Burma side but I can't remember what hotel it was. There are only two or three to choose from and anyone there will be happy to keep you right. I quite enjoyed it although there really is not much to do. Just spent the night chatting with some locals and drinking vast amounts of bear. Electricity is supplied by generators at the hotels so be prepared to be without power during certain hours. _________________ Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact |
