While I consider it rude to reply to a question with a question, I’ll elucidate:

The idiom concerned is upper-lower-middleclass high society low-life guttersnipe touristy MexiSpanglish
from the lower upper central Andalucia with elements of Andulician, Catalan, Sanish and South American
thrown in. There might even be some Amish and Apish in there, I dunno.
None of my relatives speak any pagan tongues.

It is easily mastered by any person on their first or second visit to Andalucia.

The translation is not:

“Hey man (hombre) you are talking bollocks. Perhaps you can clarify”

Conceptual translation is:

“Hoddaaaam, mooon, wha’ stoopeddeties speaketh Thee, troowwlie!

By your late answer I infer you needed to spend much time in asking from those who troowwlie know.
I hope this little episode did not completely blow your telephone bill out of the water.

But back to my question, which you never answered:

Quote
Spanish R?

“Hoddaaaam, mooon, wha’ stoopeddeties speaketh Thee, troowwlie!
Unquote

Perhaps you’d care to elucidate?

No, no, no, no, Buks. Let me elucidate.

The topic was "Proofing before publishing". Just look at some of the proofing on published postings.

Right on the topic, innit?

Well, well, well. The great thinker Huevoncio (Bollocks) Bloggs?

In front of that caliber of Gran Autoridad I must kow-tow. And, having lived in Spain, Mexico and various
spots in South America, I'll readily admit that the Spanish señorita does have a lovely Spanish r's.

Yes expecially when they are on the beach wearing only a length of dental floss in place of a Bikini.

My most humble of appologies. Of course I did have to consult my Spanish speking relatives but it cost me not one baht. I pay a flat fee for ADSl and communicate with the rest of the world with it. Firstly they a not the quickest to reply and secondly I have been so busy lately (to many people relief) that I have not spent much time on HHAD.

My knowledge of Spanish is limited to Dos Cerveza Por Favor and Manana. Not forgetting Porrous of course. I am a little bit more advanced in Thai.

Anyway in the dim distant past my Spanish Girlfriend told that when I needed to buy some Ganja the correct word was Porros but not how an English person wouled say it but with a rolling R. Now this is wher the connection to Thailand comes in. In one book that I have read about speaking Thai it was stated that the R in Thai should be pronounced something like the Spanish or Scottish R.

As for the remark by another poster about topic adherance. My comment is that is completley relevant. The whole pronlem is that there is no direct translation (spellingwise anyway between European Languages) let alone between Indo-European, Sino-Tibetan amd Thai.

To answer the original post regarding trhe spelling of Bungalow then I agree that it would be an idea to get proof reading done but many Thais do not have the luxury (if that is a correct description) of a Farang that can help.

Hi again Guess

Hope that you didn't mis-read my post.

I was not having a go at you for being 'off topic'.

Rather, I was pointing out the irony in your post - on a thread entitled "Proofing before publishing" .

Pease re-read
