Reference PP VILLA
I've looked on the HH map and can see PHUANG PHEN (hotel) in Damnoern Kasem Road - is the the one?
If not, please advise where I may locate PP Villa - thanks
I've scanned the 'Accommodation' threads and found favourable reviews there ref PP Villa though I believe these were dated some time back. Can anyone please comment on 'recent' experience at PP Villa?
Also, I've not been succesful with a Google search - anyone know if they have a website or where I can find out how to locate them?
I've also looked at and considering Top Marks - Jing's - M&A Guesthouse (formerly Dog House) and Cha-ba Chalet Rooms
As you can see I'm trying to keep to a budget as I'll be staying for approx 3 weeks from around 16th Feb to 7th March with the view to renting a villa long term (1 year plus) so trying to keep initial expenditure under reasonable control.
If you wish to add suggestions to the above mentioned venues please do so. If you feel certain comments should not be posted (!) please PM me - thanks!
Hope to meet up with some of you good folk (and not so good?! ) very soon!!

Bradders Phuang Penn is PP Villa.
They are full through February though as I tried to book a room there for my parents, and that was in December. |

Many thanks for the info Ricardo!
Well I guess any hotel that's fully booked in advance - even in high season - must be considered a very good one!
Maybe that's one reason they don't consider a website is neccessary?!! Good on 'em!
Thanks again Ricardo -

Bradders, if you can't get in at PP do give Top Marks a try. May and Tony are a great couple and I'm sure will do their best to fit you in!!!!

Bradders, If you parents are getting on and do not like climbing stairs to their rooms, the Hua Hin Suites opposite the Sofitel give good value for money.
All rooms are on ground level, a walk through the Sofitel gardens to the beach and pretty good value for money.
I did stay at the Bann Dueng Kow which is about 4ks out of town (towards Koh Takiab), and was also very good. Had complimentary minibus into town twice a day and a most helpful guy running the place.
Rooms are like a Thai Style cottage.
I would also recommend the Little Danish Guest House down by the fishing pier, but all rooms are up a flight of stairs, and may be a bit hard for your parents.
I stayed on the top floor and can tell you it was a hard hike up them at night after a few beers, But in saying that Gert and his family that run it, run a very good establishment.

Chelsea - there's two levels of rooms at the now re-named HH Suites, albeit, only as far as what we would call the 1st flor - I think it's where the "suites" are, well, mine was! |

Ok Caller I was there nearly three years ago and never noticed the upstairs there. They were also building next door last time I was over. but not sure if that had anything to do with them.

I found the rooms in Sukhumwilai (opposite Toro bar) on Soi Bintabaht far better than PP Villa, also decent views from the balcony, sea view one side of the hotel or looking over Bintabaht, the temple and on to Khao Hin Lek Fai etc on the other.
Get on the top floor and its nice and quiet even when the bars are still open.
Only 900 baht for the most expensive rooms.

Chelsea,
Thanks for your info. Actually the accommodation is not for my parents (sadly long gone) it's for me and pleased to say I can still manage some stairs - though I appreciate your comments about "after having a few beers"!!
(It was Ricardo who mentioned 'parents' so I guess you're confusing me with his comments).

BaaBaa,
Thanks for your info too.
I've tried to find some info on the Sukhumwilai guesthouse (shown on the HH Map as Sukwilai?) but no joy.
Do you know where I can source some more information about this place? Thanks

MANY THANKS to all posters - VERY helpful input as usual!!

Im talking about the new hotel (about 1.5 years i think), not the Guesthouse, just above Sukwilai Guesthouse on the map where it just says NEW.
I think I've got the card at home I'll post any info later. |

Thanks BaaBaa!
I see the building you refer to on the map.
The buildings colour code is Purple hence my reason for thinking it's a guesthouse and not a hotel.
Look forward to receiving the contact info. I'm sure others like myself who have yet to visit HH will find it very useful, especially as it comes recommended within the 'budget price' catergory - once again many thanks BaaBaa!!

Beat you to it Bradders, Contact details above.
On the price list at reception the "view" rooms I stayed in were advertised at 1500 baht but discounted down to 900 baht.
I think you could get fan rooms at 600 baht.
Obviously being fairly new and a lack of website/advertising etc they werent gettng much custom at the 1500 price, but on 2 seperate occasions I was talking to blokes who werent happy with the price/quality of the hotels they were staying in and I told them about that place, they had a look and both moved in the day after.
No pool but at 900 baht I would stop there again over PP.
Better room and better View/Balcony.

Hi again BaaBaa
Ironically - your posting with the contact info was posted while I was typing my post! You got there 2 minutes ahead of me!!
I'll get an email off to them and see what they have to offer - assuming there's room at the Inn!!
Thanks & best wishes!
