Our landlady also has a beach consession/restaurant/bar/umbrella thing going on at Hua Hin Beach around Soi 77. She closed down for the season on March 21. I go there frequently (always good business to schmooze with the landlady) and as March wore on I noticed fewer and fewer folks were coming to lay about on the beach.

From the end of November through the first week in March things were going great guns, and her place (as well as the neighbouring consessions) was almost always full. Difficult to get a beach chair much after noon.

She says she's going to open up again in early November.
Sitting watching the beach 'traffic' go by is a fairly good observational test as to the difference between high, mid, and low season. Right now, it's definitely not high season (for tourists that is), and it's quite obvious.

Cheers ...

Played a couple of rounds of golf the other week and spoke to the staff and they confirmed that the season is definately over. As usual it'll last until October/November.

Even the town will be deserted after the Songkran Festival is over in a weeks time.

I am not complaining...but I have no business.....let the tourist go home and give us our place back..

See you....

It dosen't seem like the traffic has slowed up much. But then I guess most tourist don't drive a car, they use taxi and tuk tuk that are here regardless of tourist.

Live in Cha Am and don't go into HH any more than we have to because of the traffic, would rather drive to Big C than into Tesco and fight the traffic.

Can't immagin what traffic will be like in a few years, a real nightmare I would immagin.

The main reason traffic seems just as heavy, I believe, is because many Thais from Bangkok and elsewhere come down here for Songkran. . .
