niggle,

My experience is that most of the water throwing stops during the parade etc.

Agree. Times of parade would be really good if anyone knows. I guess I'd rather se parade than surrounded by drunken fools - even if I will be a drunken fool myself (no offence intended)

Last year a (the?) parade went up Naresdamri (street the Hilton's on) & it seems a logical route this year too. Seemed to be roughly midday, but had the looks of a parade that didn't have a very strict schedule or route.

This year the festival will be held for only two days 13th and 16th April.

On 13th, the ceremony will begin at

7 am offering alms (dried food) to monks in front of the Clock Tower,

9 am the ceremony of water pouring to the Buddha image named Buddha Sihing and elderly persons will take

place at Phon King Phet Public Park, and completed with the great Songkran Procession around the city of

Hua Hin

1 pm without festive activities at night.

In Hua Hin, 16th of April is a memorial day for Mr. Mana Sridokbuab known as Phon Kingphet, the first world champion boxer of Thailand. The remembrance ceremony will be held at Phon King Phet Public Park

7 am.On the same day, there will be Thai boxing

6 pm and later will be the welcoming ceremony for Pol.Maj.Gen. Noppadol Phuaksomon, the Deputy Commissioner

of Provincial Police Region 9.

This was extracted from a Thai site by my partner we suspect the Thai boxing is 7pm not 7am just a guess

I think something has been lost in translation there, lindosfan 1! The celebration of the Thai boxer is something quite distinct from Songkran, which in terms of water fights will kick off Saturday night (12th) in the bar areas, continue on Sunday and by Monday will mostly have died down although there may be sightings of traditional Songkran with small dabs of water and marks of powder. By the 16th it will be well and truly over in Hua Hin!

This was taken direct from a Thai site not translated by us. I think they were referring to the events of the week ahead.
