I am really sorry to hear what happened to you. I really hope you recover physically and spiritually.
I recommend Arnica tablts and lotion for both by the way if you can find them here anywhere.
I am also saddened to hear that the locals feel (or at least imply) it's your fault because you are a foreigner.... I notice no-one on here saying it's your fault for living in a Thai neighburhood - that's a key difference I notice..... someone will tell me it's 'just cultural' shortly I'm sure.....
Get well soon.... |

Hi Richard,
Just logged on and seen the news of your trauma. I hope you mend quickly, and get over the phsycological bit. Have you told your wife? Is she coming back to care for you in your hour of need - I hope so.
Take care - I've got a few e-mails that'll cheer you up later tonight _________________ Green Army position 10 2007/08

get well soon mate & try not to dwell on it to long.
it could happen to anyone at anytime, there is no fault attached.
the shameful thing about the assault is the way they attacked you from behind, pretty cowardly in my book.
i think you should report it even if you don't get a great reaction from the police, at least it will go on record.
good for you for warning others of the potential dangers out there, though it's not commonplace, it's still there

Get well soon Richard. I understand what a traumatic experience it can be. Him Indoors was attacked from behind once in the centre of HH, so I'm afraid its nothing new - there was a nasty spate of attacks on farangs on bikes as well at one time. Getting a dog is a good idea you know. I'm pretty sure our soi dog once saved us from an attack at the Bangkok Bank ATM.
Hope you feel better now the wifes home _________________ 'If'n ya cain't say nuth'n nice, don't say nuth'n at all' Thumper. |

| That's terrible, I had an attempted bag snatch twice since I lived here, but they were opportunists. The first time it was a couple of young lads on a motorbike, we weren't quite as legless as they took us for. The second time was when we came from Bangkok on the train and got a Tuk Tuk home and a bloke on a motorbike tried it. I think he was in with the Tuk Tuk driver. Never mind though no body hurt, unlike poor you. I think we should just be on our guard and not take our security for granted. Hope you feel better soon. |

Eh-up Richard-lad.
Just read this post about your trauma and the Mrs and I wish you well,
and a speedy recovery...both physically and mentally.
I have a sliding gate that pretty much seals-off my bit o yard, every
night that gate is locked when the Honda and myself are inside, and
I always take a look around the Soi while locking-up.
Once thats done then I attempt the door, with a safer feeling of whats
(not) happening behind me.
Speedy one to you,- it wer nowt but a clout ower't head,
tha muss'nt grumble ow'r much. (ha)
Cheers... U.S. |

Richard, hi bud dont know you but me and the mrs(thai) wish you well.It is very cowarwardly to attack from behind and of corse if you could have deffended yourself properly you would have but please consider they were probably carrying knifes so why dont you carry a pepper spray at night, trust me one good blast of that and its job done, you can buy them in the market village on the little stalls that sale knifes and tacky rubbish.Thai men do think a farang is a rich easy target, so yes you are at risk especially when you have had a glass or two of pop. From my own experiance if you get into a punch up with a Thai and get the better of him he wont loose face he or a friend will get a knife and come back for you.So this is wot i say give the little sh*ts a good old blast in the face with some pepper spray and call the police they wont be going very far they will be on the ground trying to breath and stop there eye's burning works a treat. Please Richard becarefull at night. My wife has been Robbed outside the temple in hua hin she only popped over to the market and 3 girls followed her back and done her over for her wallet and gold in broad day light, luckly they did not get her wedding ring.Thailand is lovely but you still need your witts about you.Hope you mend soon. |

Thanks all
BUT I'm still not sure of the motive
If they wanted to rob me me why not wait until I'd opened the door?
Maybe a revenge attack but I've not crossed swords with anyone in HH except the odd dumb tourist farang who knows it all Even then!!!!!!
I'm baffled, but it is all now history
Thanks once again for your support so now let it rest and hope others learn
