I tried a few web searches for you and did not come up with much. You should try searches also: PET IMPORT THAILAND, ANIMAL IMPORT THAILAND, etc., and see what you come up with. I did read that there is extensive paperwork, inspections and a recent rabies shot (10-12 days). The mosquitos here are thick and suggest you continue heartworm meds, flea meds and everything else you have been doing in Hawaii. Pete (former resident of Hilo)

Let me know if you dig anything interesting up, as I shall be bringing my own dog over later this year, from Japan. I knew about the recent rabies shot so I skipped his usual annual government shot here to fit in.
The mossies might be a bother to him, but we'll have to see!

I can't stress enough the need for heartworm medication and regular yearly checks. I've seen dogs and cats here and in the States ravaged by it. (see below link for further details). Also, intestinal parasites here can be vicious and easy to pick up from just a small piece of something on the ground the dog may eat. You've seen dogs walking around Thailand where all their hair has fallen off and they look like one big sore. I always thought this was simply a skin disease, NOT...it is caused by internal parasites. A yearly check by a vet here for all these things is essential. Pete

I've been more or less permanent over here for a long time. My Hilo house was a part year retreat I had for 6 years and sold last June. I think you'll like it here. Just remember there are many stray dogs and Hua Hin is no exception. Keep "your's" away from "them". Pete

We are making a move to HH in 2006, and will be bringing our animals with us also, cat & dog. There is plenty of info on the web about bringing in pets to Thailand. Heartworm meds are all over the place since it is very prevalant here. The one guy who mentioned about stray dogs and looking out for them is right, just use decression. Your dog will enjoy Thailand just fine, once you are settled in and comfortable.

aloha,
thanx for all the info. i am ready for my doggie to fly out here from hawaii.
i found a house with a fenced yard, so no worries about the strays.
if any of you are contemplating bringing your pets here, call animal control at BKK airport. 02 535 1425.
they are very helpful, if you are lucky enough to speak with the only person there who speaks english.
