Is it just me or is it just that as I get older I have had enough of people ?..Going out to eat in Hua Hin we always seem to be seated beside the most loud obnoxiuos person in the restaurant who apart from breaking the decibel limit for the planet has to talk to all his friends on his mobile ?..Is it just me or am I only the one who gets the the mother and father bringing their 6 month old infant into the reataurant and not giving a toss that it bawls its head off...? or the cigar smoker who thinks its his "right " to light up cause he has finished his meal and we are just starting..?
What happened to manners and repspect for other people around you ?..Yes I may be dinosaur....but I do respect other people...and manners cost nothing..Que sera sera..... |

No not really. They are the dinosaurs. Trends around the world in public places are to be more considerate to fellow patrons or public. In enclosed restaurants in Thailand it is already illegal to smoke.
As for the screaming infants. That really is a management issue.
In both cases they are behind the richer countries in Thailand but moving in the same direction. _________________

Dear lomuamart,
......Hua hin is kinder and gentler than most if not all cities that I have been in and I have travelled extensively, in our fine world. That's the reason most of us have settled here..not the weather (hot and humid), not the inexpensive standard of living (many places in Thailand are cheaper as well as other countries). Not the lovely girls(who for the most part came from other places in Thailand). Not even the 3 or 4 hour trip to great dive sites, easy money made by posing as an estate agent or pretending to be a house builder, although you were just released from prison. Nor the wonderfully cheap golf or even my sworn life long friends in the Toro bar. You have no choice but to take a ride on a 600 c.c. motorcycle taxi and tell the young driver you are in a big hurry to go to Tesco. That should get your heart started and if you survive, you will overlook the small problems and disappointments of every day living, stop complaining and enjoy your life in one of the world's fairest places. |

He he. How long did it take you to do that, with the venom at the end? It would have taken me ages. _________________ "I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered". George Best. |

Actually big jimmy, don't think it's you, your age or your tolerance level that's changing. I think it's the type of tourists that HH attracts that's changing. I think it's joining Pattaya & Phuket as a "package tour" type destination. (That was the politest way I could say it... ) _________________ "The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk? That's why people in Cha Am love Cha Am. It's mostly made up of Thai people. |

yes indeed it reminds me of my last visit to hh was a yaer ago
was in up market sea side restraunt
where at the next table was a rather large guy with 2 little ladies
he ate and farted through a humongus amount of food and entertained his 2 lady friends wiht his constant farting throught his meal
with the titter of laughing by his dinner guests wherther they were embarrased by this
or thought he was an ignoramus but the idiot thought he was getting approval form his dinner guests i hope his under pants died but he was totally oblivious to anyone elce in the restraunt _________________ Once you go Asian you will never go Caucasian !! |

| Why are most Restaurants in Hua Hin always spoiled by some Fat Berk lighting up a Cigar/Cigarette at the table next to you just as you are about to start your meal. The Fat Berks generally either wear an English football shirt or speak German!!! |

Do you know, I was saying that very same thing to a screaming infant the other day. Guess what; it completely ignored me and carried on screaming as if I wasn't there. Disgraceful! _________________ "The man who never made a mistake never did bugger all" - Old Welsh proverb

I do not know wheteher any of u guys have seen a uk show that they show on the ABC in Aus called "Grumpy Old Men". The 1st series was all men, the second series was Grumpy Old Women, and they have on at the moment "Grumpies on Holidays".
It is a very funny show, I would urge all of the posters in this thread to ring up whoever produces the show and audition.
In the shows the guests all complain about certain topics that annoy them and really piss them off. Much like u guys have here.
I am sure by the look of all the replies on here, the next one could be called "Grumpy Old Falang in Hua Hin" and you would all be stars in your own rights

I don't know if we're really grumpy? It's just that it becomes evident that life is short, so we don't waste time with things, like prolonged eating and sex. We strive to jam as much into our time as possible, becomming impatient with those who still feel immortal, how dare they!!....LOL. Pete |
