Now I need to get something like this as the mountain of post-it notes and paper scraps I currently use is becoming unmanageable.

Anyone currently using one? Someone showed me an iPhone Saturday night but Sunday morning was plagued with the usual memory problems so I only really remember that it had a funky touch screen.

Biggest concern I guess is internet connectivity in Hua Hin - how easy and reliable is it to get online using an iPhone or PDA using a One-2-Call SIM and any idea what it costs for the service?

Comments appreciated from any gadget geeks out there!

Buksi

FYI I have been using AIS Internet service at THB 999 / month via a Sierra Wireless Aircard on my laptop for a month or so now.

Whilst not an iPhone or PDA, I would have thought that the connectivity through these devices is the same.

If so then I can report that the speed of data transfer depends on the time of day - (Usual I guess, dependant on network usage), eg at the fishing lodge 10km outside of HH, the speeds vary from as quick as the broadband here in the BKK office to somewhat better than the standard TOT Maxnet service that I recently ditched.

In other words it's acceptable provided that you are not downloading mega sized files.

Hope this helps

When I'm in Hua Hin I use a 1-2-Call sim card in my laptop 3G/GPRS data card for internet connection. I couldn't get 3G last time I was in HH (new year 2006/07) but GPRS speeds were acceptable for general browsing.

Exactemundo Winkie!!! You are absolutely right!!!

The NTC (National Telecommunications Comitee) has to issue those 3 G Licenses first hen Communication Companies like AIS, DTAC, True Move ect habe to bid for them. After the Auction setting up the network alongside GSM Signals takes Time. I'll expect Bangkok wil have 3G by the end of this year or this time next year.
Back to Topic my friend has used jis PDA with a 1 2 Calll Sim card before in Hua Hin and he says it's not lighninig fast now turtlelish slow it'speed was decent enough to surf the Net. But to download stuff of the Net he would not recommend.
Buksida you have the iPhone? Wow you lucky man!!!!!! Can you plese keep posting your expirience with it from Time to Time????

Haven't got one yet - just considering it if I can get a reliable internet connection on it, check email, browse and a little FTP (small files). Essentially it'll replace the IBM laptop thats seen better days.

US, I prefer your Firefox avatar!
