I would like to ask expats, if they think this would be a good or a bad thing for HH i think Pattaya is an absolute shithole, and think it would not be for the best,but i dont live here yet,or would it be good for business or would it take away some of wot makes HH special,your views please.

To anwer your question I Think it's a double edged Knife there. For Hua Hin it would mean an influx of Tourists not only the good but also the Bad who expects Hua Hin to be the equivalent of that what Pattaya is. I'm dead certain that with the King's Summer Palace in the back yard there will be no such establishments found in Pattaya! Transportwise it would be great for Petchburi if it does became a port to Transport Goods from the Eastern to the South without passing through Bangkok. Something that could further attract more tourists into the Cha Am/Hua Hin Area besides The Top Golf courses in the Area would be a Family based Therme Park. To cater to all Tourists.
In all Kendo I'm pretty much undecided on How these new Ses routes would be. Now the Government has put their plans into Action. Then we can do the Make a proper assessment.

Very nice example of High Seas on the Gulf of Thailand. if the officials from The Tourism and Sports Ministry knows aboot it? A ride across the Rim with a Jet Catermaran or Hydrofoil would quikly become a Trip with Of the Vommit Comet! Hmm... Any more Vommit Bags Please? And endless rows of Seasick waiting in front of the Ships Restrooms.

I have never done the crossing you mentioned Jockey but my point is would the average person take the trip when it could be rough, if he could drive there in about the same time?

Correct Jockey... but look at the size of the vessels that ply those routes!!

Would there really be that much requirement for that type of passenger capacity here? I don't think so.

I agree that sea is no problem! It's the swell(amplitude) not the wave height. I have a couple of sports boats in the UK and would be happy going out in that. Something like a cat would have no difficulty. Rolling Eyes

Hi Understudy. Usually I go along with your comments, but A Theme Park? Sorry IMO its a complete no-brainer! Why on earth would the typical Pattaya tourist want to cross the Gulf to visit something like that?
More to the point, would it really enhance HuaHin as a tourist destination?

If people want that sort of thing they go to Disneyland or Blackpool and take the kids. There was a prolonged and brave attempt to make a success of the go-kart track near HH, but Thailand simply doesn't attract the type of tourists who want that sort of thing. There are very few 'themed' attractions which would seem appropriate. The Eden Project is a successful venture in the UK, but aimed at a limited market here. Thailand has quite enough natural attractions - please don't blot the landscape with contrived eyesores Cussing

Hi Guys, so what are my options for travelling to pattaya from huahin as i will be down in huahin for a week this month before travelling over to pattaya. I know i could book a taxi and if i do what is a good price to be paying these days? but are there any cheaper options out there that will take me direct to pattaya as i will have a large suitcase and stopping in bkk and changing bus stations aint an appealing thought.

Theres no direct route I'm afraid Mac, but easy to get taxis between stations in Bangkok. It might be worth trying one of the travel agents in HuaHin for any coach trips (Western Tours are regularly recommended.) Otherwise its a taxi right through. Its about 2000 to 2500 for HH to Bangkok taxi, so probably double it. others on the forum will have more up to date info. Enjoy the trip!

A Taxi to Pattaya is 3000 baht.

Apparently there is a Minibus that can be booked from somewhere on the soi almost opposite Poonsuk Plaza running up to Coconuts.

Mini Bus from HH to Bangkok is Bht200 and from Bangkok to Pattaya Bht150 so a total of Bht350 one way.
