It's easy to make and do everything as long as you follow the book and the existing rules. Have all copies & photos required and you'll have no problem with immigration.
Stop call them natives.
The Thais are friendly if you are friendly.
Your notification from the bank must not exceed 5 days old.
Lunch break is between 12 and 1 PM.

Hi
I got my retirement visa 5 weeks ago.Not sure where you are from but the info given to me in the UK was very misleading even allowing for the recent changes.
They want to see funds of 800,00 Baht in your Thai account which must have been there for at least 3 months and not allowed to go down below that figure.
You will need 2 passport sized photos and decide if you want a multiple entry visa or just a normal one, obviously the multiple entry one is more expensive.
I took a letter from the bank stating the amount in question and got it the same day to make sure. They did not ask to see my bank book which is the norm.
You will obviously have to take your passport and 2 copies (they let me use their copier), and will then be required every 90 days to report to immigration to show your bank details, sign a couple of forms and that should be it.......in my experience!Staff were OK.
Hope this helps

Does anbody know the proceedure if you have a retirement visa, and then find that you have to leave the country temporarily? I have been told that there is an exit visa, but I cannot find any facts about it.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Go to immigration and ask for a re-entry visa. I think it costs around 1000 baht. You can get a multiple re-entry for around 3500 baht.

Don't exit without the exit visa or you have to start all over again.

The financial requirements are as before. You need a letter from your embassy confirming your monthly pension. In my case i also took a letter from the bank confirming i did bring in the required amount and a copy of my bank book. In the event the latter two were not required. I also had a medical certificate which was not read but was retained by the officer. The staff at immigration were as always very pleasant and helpfull.

Just been earding the info on retirement visas. Is the 65,000 per person what about couples? Same for the 800,000 ? seems alot for two people if it is doubled!

All your information is great.
But as an australian is it the same for me as the UK.?.
Also can you do the 90 day renewal in Hua Hin.
I spent an hour yesterday trying to sort out things with the Royal Thai Consulate here.
Any advice would be welcome.
Many thanks

Yes, you can do the 90 day renewal in Hua Hin.
Don't know if Brits and Aussies are same-same but I think they are treated equally by Thai immigration.
