Hey Korky.
What was the name of the Quirky pub in Beverly that was always dark
and dingey, but had real good Sam Smiths? Had a bit of a yard at the back, sure it was named after a lady..maybe?
Years ago could always park the Suzuki up after a blast around the wolds
and have a mellow moment (till the glass was dry).

Hi Usual Suspect - I think Korky must be busy packing! Nellies could be your pub, although it used to be a free house. Certainly dark and dingy-ish, with a cobbled yard and an old well.
Or - it might be Lady Le Gros. Don't know what brew they sell. Can't think of any others with female names in Bev.
BTW proper name of Nellies is White Horse. Used to be run by 3 very elderly sisters. They had the beer kegs perched on trestles and drew straight from them. Women weren't allowed in the bar up to the late 60's, and there was a small room full of old gas cookers! It hasn't changed much... Cheers

Yesssssss...thats it,-Nellies.
Could always park the bike in the back-yard,enjoy good beer, then
before leaving town would purchase one O them nice ice-creams from
little shop next to the bar ('bar' as in gate into city).
That set me up for the homeward trip past the race-course,over the
hill and far-far away. Thanks for that Mags.
p.s. Do you remember the annual 'rainbow festival' for the 'Hippy-
types' they used to have at the race-course...endless stalls selling
multi-coloured jumpers and bands playing all aft from the stage/
artic-trailer, not allowed in unless you had vivid coloured laces in your
para-boots (well almost)..ha.

No - never went to the Rainbow festival, just to the races there, but there were similar 'does' in East Park Cheers

Youngers - now were talking Richard. Was in White Harte couple of weeks ago. Still the Youngers there plus assorted real ales. Got three pints and very little change from 9 quid. Scary Cheers
