'An apple pie without the cheese, is like a hug without a squeeze'
And while we're on about northern food - used to get pork pie topped with mushy peas in the West Riding pub in Leeds - wonderful!
Richard - did you have those rare beef sarnies in the Duke in Cott? If you timed it right they had got to the bloody middle of the joint. Proper crusty bread, mustard and onion....... |

Blackberry vinegar is wild blackberries, cooked into a thin syrup with vinegar and sugar - my mum used to make it. If you want the recipe we'll need a seance _________________ A man is not truly dead unless he is also forgotten. |

| Lived in Leeds for 3 years. Never eaten so much bad food in all my life. Bad bad food everywhere. Chips n gravy, chips n cheese, chips n curry. Burgers with pineapple and coleslaw??? Even the roast dinners were crap. Thank God I worked for a while in Weatherby where they had more varied food on one street than the whole of Leeds. I really hate Leeds by the way. |

I keep having secret cravings for pudding, chips, mushy peas and gravy......
thick gloopy brown gravy with lumps in it, pasty white well steamed pudding, well done chips, radioactive green mushys......all with Warbys thick white sliced to mop it up......

Hence my posting. Leeds is a metropolis as is London, Birmingham and Manchester. To find true Yorkshire folk you've got to get out of the big cities and towns.
Not real Yorkshire humour
Same applies in any other country. ie real Thailand is not to be found in BK HH or Phuket. Real Americans are not to found in NY or LA
BTW Chips with gravy are superb as are Chips with curry sauce _________________ Why does my head feel so bad why does my soul feel so bad - Moby (Dick)

I did find some nice places in Yorkshire, really liked the Weatherby, Tadcaster area. Really nice people and great food.
And yeah, I do have a soft spot for Chips n Coory.
