I am definitely one of those people who goes through phases of playing records to death.

Recently I have been mainly listening to:

Ray Lamontagne - Trouble
Richard & Linda Thompson - Best of
Norah Jones - Feels Like Home
Natalie Merchant - Motherland
Jeff Buckley - Grace

Yeah - been a bit melancholy I s'pose!

Currently trying to cheer myself up by listening to:

Ryan Adams - Gold

What are people out there listening to as their current faves right now?

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood
Santana - Abraxas
Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland
Amon Duul II - Dance of the Lemmings

That's my choice at the moment.

Cheers

I just keeping digging back into my collection, I'm surprised how varied it is. Currently:

Nic Jones
A couple of solo albums by Norma Waterson - Grateful Dead, eat your heart out!
The Proclaimers - Sunshine over Leith
Mike Oldfield - Five Miles High. Forgot how good he was, great live as well.
From Jazz - Art Blakey & Thomasz Stanko.

Most of which will mean little to you rockers!

Anyone know "The ballad of Mott" by Mott the Hoople? I think it was only recorded live. I've been playing that a lot. Just hits all the right notes, great track.

I've got some of Nick Drake's tracks on the computer. I'm still hopeful that I might be able to get the whole of "Bryter Later" and "Five Leaves Left" from someone. If so, it would make my day. One of the tracks I managed to download a few years ago is a pretty rare version of him doing Hazy Jane alone on acoustic - unfortunately the sound quality isn't too good. I've been listening to his stuff for knocking on 30 years.
Was introduced to John Martyn's music at the same time and have quite a bit of that. Get's played regularly during quieter moments.
Interesting you mention Zappa, 'cause I've been blasting out "Waiting for Columbus" - Little Feat - quite a bit lately. Reading up on Lowell George, I'd never realised that both he and the other founding member of Little Feat played with Zappa and The Mothers of Invention, until Zappa sacked Lowell George. So one of the stories goes, this happened when George wrote "Willin" and presented it to Zappa who decided it was too good and told Lowell to leave the band and set up on his own. There are other versions, of course - mainly surrounding Lowell's habits and forgetfulness sometimes when playing the guitar or singing - but I prefer the first reason. He was too good.
