Hello Everyone

We are seriously thinking of moving to Thailand, on a permanet basis.
We are in the process of buying a house, just outside HH in a community called Tropical Hill 2, some of you may know the area.
We have never been to Thailand, but my best friend visits on a regular basis and he to is buying a property in the same area, going of what he has told me, it seems a perfect place to live and the comments you guys make on these pages, it seems that I may be making the right decision.

What I would like to know is as follows:

Would it be worth it to bring out furniture, or is the cost over there reasonable, in fact would it be worth bringing out anything to do with household goods, electrical of otherwise, because of the cost of shipping.

Could anyone also tell me the cost of private education, this would be for a child of around 6yrs old.

There are probably a few more things that you guys/girls will be able to help me with, but for now i will leave it there.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

We are looking forward to be coming part of the Ex-pat community.

Cheers Cheers

Russell

I'm not having a go at you, BUT.
Why are you investing in property in a country you have never even visited? Seems like a big risk to me. Far better that you come over here and rent a place for 6 months or so and then decide if you want to make a long time committment.
Hopefully, you'll fit in just fine, love the town and most importantly know that you've made the right decision.
On other points. Furniture is relatively cheap and widely available. Electrical goods - tv's microwaves etc etc are a fraction of the cost in the West.
Schools - can't help you much there, but one rule of thumb is about 6,000 baht for 6 months. You'd need more advise on this though.
HH's a great town. Good luck.

hi
Moved here several months ago.Love it. I have a 10year old daughter who attends Somtawin international program school and she loves it. Cost about 70000baht per year. We also shipped some pesonal affects here from the UK ( 75 boxes) cost us 1900 pounds ( Excess Movers London ) I know this may seem expensive but they come to your home in the uk pack everything they also arrange customs clearance in Bankok ( I didn't pay any duty as my wife is a Thai returning home) and unpack at your house in Thailand. Any further Questions fire away!

As for your request for information about a six year old attending school in Hua Hin, I do not know of an accredited English language school in the area. If anyone does, please advise.
