Daily rental charges in Hua Hin appear to be between 160 - 200 baht per day depending on the length of rental.

I passed through Cha-am in November and saw a sign advertising motorbikes (100/125 cc) for 100 baht per day. I didn't stop to investigate this apparent bargain, so can anyone confirm whether bikes in Cha-am do rent for 100 baht per day.

Thanks.

theres a place on the beach road down from the Hilton that rents out bigger bikes, and another near the chinese temple on the beach/cliff road.

Other than that theres the guys at the Harley Chop Shop on the canal road...they usually know someone with a 600 Shadow for hire.

most of the rentals in town are the auto Mios and Clicks, which are usually in OK nick, or the semi autos that are usually sodding deathtraps as they have been hammered. Some of the guesthouses and bars can recommend a person to you.

The only bad bikes I have hired here have been from the taxi rank lot on Poonsuk - one was so bad I took it round the block then went back and got a different bike. I definitely wouldn't recommend them.

A basic rule is when you hire check the brakes, the indicators/lights and the tyres before you set off.

On a geared bike, if it doesnt hit neutral easily thats a sign the gears are screwed....so dont hire.

Cheers

Sorry to say, but you can't rent a bike here with insurance included!!!
You can easily check up on this in cyberspace and read about their disastrous adventures in Thailand.

You can rent a mc or a 100 cc for a couple of hundred bahts pr day but please be very careful.
Not only are we driving on the "wrong" side of the road, but size is everything and there's a lot of madcaps out there.

ah I forgot...

a usual price guide (for a 125 auto moped) is 1 day = 200bht, 1 week = 1000 bht, 1 month = 3500bht.

and wear a lid....if they dont give you one you can get cheap ones all over town for a couple of hundred bht.

have fun mate thumbs up

Lady at the Subhamitra Hotel will rent a manual shift Honda Wave for 170/day (for a week) brain bucket included. Automatic is 200/day.
My advice is take a 125cc bike, the 100ccs are underpowered if you have to move quickly and have a passenger.

To go back to my original post, has anyone checked out or can check out the 100 baht rental bikes in Cha-am.

They looked a reasonable quality, but that opinion was from the road as I drove bye.

If they are as good as the rental bikes in HH, it'll be worth the trouble of travelling there, particularly for longer term rentals.
