MISSING GOLDEN RETRIEVER DOG
WENT MISSING 25/09/07 ABOUT 5.00PM WHEN IT WAS RAINING.
Male dog, 1 year old Name: Leo
Leo was wearing a canvas dark orange coloured collar with pics of cartoon dogs on it and a bell.
I have 2 dogs they both went for their daily walkabout from my home in Phetchkasem Soi 33 about 4pm 25 September 2007. They got a bit adventurous and wondered quite far. Only one came back.
From what i can gather from asking around is that they were both seen near the CALTEX petrol station just past Index Living Mall coming towards town.
I have been told that 2 Thai guys were paying some interest in the golden retriever (my other dog is a Bangkaew) he may have been injured, he wasn't before he left but someone I asked remembered him limping.
Have you seen a golden retriever dog wondering around or has someone you know or live near who didn't previously own a fully grown golden retriever acquired one recently.
Please message me or leave a reply if you have any information.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
James

You let two dogs out unaccompanied!
I'm sure you do miss Leo but it was not a very responsible way to look after your dogs !!
I hope you get him back and learn that you should always accompany your dog!

KD, a bit harsh isn't it? We don't know the circumstances.
OP, I've pm'ed you. I haven't seen Leo, but I'll help anyway I can. _________________ "The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk? But, can they suffer?" - Jeremy Bentham, philosopher, 1748-1832

I hope you have a Thai person helping you with this search. If not, try to find one to help. I would then have them question the Caltex station again, and the people who saw the "two Thai guys", especially if those that saw them were Thai. If any of these places or people were involved with a snatch, they'll lead you down a blind trail if you're trying to investigate yourself.
If Leo wasn't neutered, that could have been the attraction for a theft if he is a pure breed and handsome. They could have taken him for stud, definitely not the dinner table.
I can feel your pain Mahdoo, good luck. I really hope some good people have taken him in and will look for the owner. Pete
PS: If at one year he reacts to your voice, or a voice of someone in your family, walk every soi in the area he went missing screaming his name. If you hear a familiar bark, park yourself and call the police, or Dawn. Take your other dog on a leash with you and let him/her smell things out. If you're other dog is lonely for Leo, it will pick up a scent. _________________ "What America needs is a huge hypodermic needle of morality." Alice Cooper 21 Sept. 2007

Dawn
OP said I have 2 dogs they both went for their daily walkabout from my home so that suggests it is a regular thing. I know you would never condone such a lax attitude towards dog care.
I really do hope Leo is found and is never allowed to wander about on his own again. I know escapes do happen to the best looked after dogs but this would not seem to be an escape but the norm for the pair to take themselves off and wander about unattended. If I am wrong I appologise unreservidly !

I tend to agree KD. Not negligence, just a western practice that simply can't be done here in Thailand, or Asia. Hopefully this will turn out OK. Pete. _________________ "What America needs is a huge hypodermic needle of morality." Alice Cooper 21 Sept. 2007 |

Thanks for the helpful replies,
I have walked around the local Soi's and the places he was seen last calling his name both last night and today but no luck. I took my other dog out last night thinking that she might try to find Leo but she took me to the beach.
Unfortunately after asking around the Caltex garage again today we have more sightings of the dog and the "2 thai guys" with a pick-up but no-one actually seeing him being taken.
I have made up some posters which I will be taking to the police station tomorrow and putting them up in hopefully in the post office, the old shopping centre, market village I think has a notice board and the local vets.
I have offered a reward if he is returned which might help.
Well fingers crossed |

It can't be done in the Western world either, or at least it can't be done in the UK without risking the dog catcher and a hefty fine. _________________ Green Army position 10 2007/08

Hope you find him BUT I ALSO HOPE YOU DONT LET HIM OUT UNACCOMPANIED AGAIN.
I agree with KD and BB.
A hefty fine if a dog is caught roaming here.
Points for letting them roam alone.
They get plenty of excersize without you doing any.
They crap in someone elses garden.
Points against.
They could run away or get stolen.
They could cause a traffic accident.
They could get into a dog fight.
They could bite a child.
They could etc etc etc. _________________ You only live once. |

Mahdoo
Why don't you put posters all over town with the picture of your dog and offer a reward. I am almost sure that someone will come forward with information if not the dog

LEO HAS BEEN FOUND!!!
I have been putting up posters all over town today. On my way home I stopped at the dog food shop at Phetchkasem Soi 47 to put up another poster.
The owner of the shop had sold food to a Thai couple that found Leo at the Caltex garage 2 days ago.
He had been in a car accident and has a broken leg but other than that he is fine and very happy to be home. Sandee (my bangkaew) is also very happy to have him home.
I will never be letting either of the dogs out unaccompanied again.
The dogs have always used the waste land opposite my house to go to the toilet but have never wondered further than 30m from my house on a quiet Soi. Not sure what made them so adventurous that day but they won't be doing it again.
Thanks to everyone for the help.
James

THERE'S A VOICE,
THAT KEEPS ON CALLING ME.
DOWN THE ROAD,
IS WHERE I'LL ALWAYS BE.
EVERY STOP I MAKE,
I'LL MAKE A NEW FRIEND.
CAN'T STAY FOR LONG, JUST TURN AROUND AND I'M GONE AGAIN.
MAYBE TOMORROW, I'LL WANNA SETTLE DOWN,
UNTIL TOMORROW, I'LL JUST KEEP MOVING ON
DOWN THIS ROAD, THAT NEVER SEEMS TO END,
WHERE NEW ADVENTURE, LIES JUST AROUND THE BEND
SO IF YOU WANNA JOIN ME FOR A WHILE,
JUST GRAB YOUR HAT, COME TRAVEL LIGHT,
THAT'S HOBO STYLE.
MAYBE TOMORROW, I'LL WANT TO SETTLE DOWN,
UNTIL TOMORROW, THE WHOLE WORLD IS MY HOME |
