Mini Van to Hua Hin

Hi all. Arriving in BKK in a fortnight. Does anyone have any pictures they can post or direct me to - to help me locate the Mini Van site in Bangkok to catch the 'van to Hua Hin ??? Thanks also Johnny K - good directions !

I am proposing to get a cab from the airport to the Victory Monument, does anyone know the name of the road/soi that the Mini Van's are parked in so I can direct the cab driver accordingly ??

Also, does anyone know what time the firsty minivan leaves Bangkok for Hua Hin ???

Appreciate this is a bit of a dim post, but I haven't been to Bangkok before and dont fancy blowing 2 nights accomodation costs on a private taxi...

Minibuses stop at rat vee ti at the Victory monument.
First dep to hua Hin is 06:00.
The price has gone up with 20Bt to 180 Baht due to increase of fuel prices.

The cab driver should be able to take you there directly without problem. Before you get into the cab say to the driver "Victory Monument, Mini Bus Hua Hin" and say it slowly and clearly. You will see straight away if he has un derstood. Youcan always get the one behind.

If you do have a problem when you get to Victory monument here is a brief description.

Victory monument is a circus with slip roads off it. You need the slip road that is on the opposite side to the elevated skytrain (BTS). You will see manu minibuses. The Hua Hin ones are at the northern end of the slip road.

If you do a search on this site on minibus you will find much information. This question has been asked many times.

Chepest way to get to Victory Monument is to get the Skytrain from the airport and get off at Victory Monument.
I am going to HH on Monday and thinking about using the minibus, so if I do I will post a report on how easy it was to get there by Skytrain and find the minibus etc

Hi there,
If you don’t like the idea of getting into a taxi, there is an airport bus service that goes to the Victory Monument. When you come out of the terminal walk to the left along the front, at the end there is a desk and some plastic chairs, this is the stop. You need bus AB2 which runs from 04:30 to 00:30 and last time I used it, cost 100bt. It is supposed to run every 15 minutes, but in reality you can wait up to 30 minutes. The staff on the ticket desk speak enough English, and if you ask they will get the driver to point out where to get off. A taxi is quicker, but if you are unsure of your surroundings the bus is a good option, they are used to tourists as most Thais use the normal service buses, as they want to go to there homes and not downtown.

TT, there is very limited baggage space available on the mini buses, and if you're coming direct from the airport I'm assuming you won't be travelling light. Bear in mind you may have to book at least two seats to accomodate your bags as well. Still great value compared to a taxi.

Tones I arrived OK on Monday, if you are on your own and have only a little luggage, the van will be OK.

If you have a lot of luggage and a family on tow, you would be best to pre book a pick up from the airport.
If you have a look at http://www.sawadee.com website, there is a section where you can pre book taxis there. If you feel like bartaring at the airport you may get it a bit cheaper.

I came into the domestic part of the airport, caught the airport shuttle bus (100baht) into Victory Monument.
When you get off the bus, the Hua Hin Minibus stop is over on the far RH Side of the area.
You can go up the escalator and look over to the RH side and you can then see where the vans are.

Cost of the trip was 180baht and took just over 2.5hrs to get to HH.
Our bus was full and very little space fot luggage. I did not have a suitcase, but if any one has, you may have have to buy extra seats to be able to fit all your luggage in the bus.

I have been looking for a taxi back to the airport on Sunday and so far the cheapest I have been quoted at this end is 1900baht, so if you leave it till you arrive at the airport, that is the sort of money you should be looking at paying.

Based on your comments and others in response to my thread I am going to chance it with suitcase, if I need to buy an extra seat then I think I can dig deep and find another 180 baht for my luggage.

I will post my follow up in a week - ten days to review the process.

Tones, I just left HH today and got a taxi back from my hotel to the airport and only cost me 1800baht.
I used the same company last year and was about the same price. They also said that they can arrange pick up at BKK as well (when I come again).

take into consideration how much you are spending on getting to thailand, and time/hassell/comfort factors.

a limo ride from the airport to hau hin mite seem a nice treat for yourself.

I hope you understand that 1800Bt should be equal to about GBP 25.-
If you've never been in Bangkok before I would say that a 25£ ride would be your best solution to get to Hua Hin safe and sound.

I used the mini bus from Hua Hin to Victory Monument.
I found it a good service.
We stopped for about a 15 minute break somewhere about one hour from Bangkok.
The price I see has gone up but well worth the 160 baht.
I had a smallish suit case so there wasn't a problem.
The bus was full except for one seat leaving Hua Hin. We stopped outside Hua Hin and picked up a girl who I suspect had telephoned that she would be waiting.
I would use them again.
I'm also thankful for the information as to where to pick the bus up at Victory Monument.
Victory Monument is not a very friendly place to start looking for buses so its important toi know eher to pick it up.

I have just been informed about a second minibus service from Hua Hin that departs from the Clock Tower area and goes to Victory Monument.

Does anybody know about this?
