| Hi Pundi64, Unfortunately the answer is no, as I am a Mac user myself. As far as I know the only Mac places are in Bangkok, in Panthip Plaza on Phetchburi Road, although there may be others in The Big Mango. There probably aren't enough of us in the local area to sustain a business dealing in Macs although I am surprised that there isn't at least a nod in the direction of Macs at one of the computer shops. You may be able to get one of them to have a look and then send it on to Bangkok to save you the journey though. Do you have a problem with your Mac or was it just a general enquiry for reference? |

Got me a powerbook G4 on my return from there last January.... This is just one more reason for me to trade it on a PC. I thought it was going to be simple to make the switch, but haven't really taken a shine to it (to put it mildly!!)
Being an old fart doesn't help all that much either! |

Wanderlust is spot on, there are two Mac outlets at Panthip Plazza, both on the third floor, one directly on your left as you exit the escalator and one a little over your right. The right hand side one, called MiniMac, I feel, is a better shop, at least they have a bit of passion about the Mac products they sell. All the latest gear available at both outlets.

I have been using Macs since the they first came on the scene in the mid 80's. and although I can use a pc, there would never be a change over for me.
Besides if you've used Macs for any length of time you will already know that nearly all fellow mac users are happy to help you out with any problems you may be having, software, hardware, updates or tutorials, you only need to ask. We love to show rookies what they've been missing out on all these years. Even Mr Gates has been showcasing his latest software using a Mac platform, bacause he knows it won't crash on him and will run his software faster than anything else around.
Using a Mac in Thailand does have a few drawbacks. No iTunes downloads available yet, but all warranties are good, and latest software always 'ON OFFER' by every shop in Panthip. Even latest Mac Mags available from the local Bookazine shop here in Hua Hin.
One tip if you have not purchased your Mac yet, do not buy from another country and bring to Thailand. If I had known years ago that I could buy Macs in Thailand I would have done all my shopping here. The money I could have saved would have paid for the flight. My Powerbook G4 17" was a little over 1000GBP cheaper here than in the UK, and was the latest spec from the USA.
No sad mac icons here. _________________ Per Angusta In Augusta.

Thanks for all the info on Macs and where to buy etc.
I have a Mac G5 Desktop, which I don't mind saying " I Love", plus one best thing about Macs, no "VIRUSES" !!!!
We are comming to Thailand for a visit this January, and from what I have found out is, that with the Extended Mac Plan (protection plan) I can purchase there in BKK, to be covered in Thailand since my first year will still be good in the USA. I was told since it was still good here, I could do this over there. Let me know if this is true-
Good to meet all of you in HH Forum- |

I used pc's up untill 5 years ago when I bought a G4. Now I will never change back, Mac's are just so much stable and make more sense to me. And they look cool too. _________________ Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly!
