I am sure that this might have been asked before & the answer might be somewhere within the HHAD annals, but anyway, my question is this:
I shall be returning to HH in July & am trying to find a watering hole where I can take my wife & occasionally, even my young son.
Reasonable prices, pleasant atmosphere, & a lack of anything that might have 'her indoors' reach for the kitchen knives Twisted Evil or start my boy's sex education a wee bit early! Embarassed
Suggestions (the physically possible ones) welcome.
Cheers

Troopie
really no problem,Mai Tai,Goannas or London Lounge is fine, probably best to stay off main drag to avoid your son asking too many questions. In actual fact bar girls are always friendly to Farang women and enjoy talking to them.I came over recently with blond haired girlfriend and played pool in many bars even in a bar where I had been with the cashier about 2 years previously.

Troopie,

You see couples in many of the bars on and around Soi Bintabhat, even the occasional family. It's a regular sight, certainly in high season.

My mate and his girlfriend have just spent the first six nights of their honeymoon in Hua Hin and had a great time around the bars. The girls are usually genuinely friendly towards couples, making sure they're okay and having a laugh with them.

I suppose it depends on your better half's attitudes to the bars but I've not seen anything in Hua Hin that I think should put couples off going out and having a good time anywhere in town.

Thanks a lot for the swift & interesting responses, folks!
My wife, who is Japanese, is enough to keep my eyes off the local walking scenery MOST of the time, but I wanted to avoid my boy asking some 'interesting' questions!
Anyway, I shall bear all the advice in mind, & judging by the way the local 'ladies of the night' reacted when I wheeled my boy down the main bar alley in his pushchair on our last visit, he is likely to be very popular -- but that's a different problem!

Rolling Eyes
Sorry about late reply but I have only just seen your message.
Two bars spring to mind. They are Nervana and Sugar Cane. Neither have girls. Both are clean and friendly and welcome children. Both have good quality pool tables. Nervana is is Soi Poolsuk and Sugar Cane is in Soi Selakarm next to Johnnie Walker's.

Was in HH for 12 days at the begining of this month and found most of the bars very wife/girlfriend friendly.
Used to drink in the London Lounge most of the time, Wij and his staff were always very friendly, whether I was on my own or with my girlfriend. Also found the Swedish Bar (in the same street) to just as good.

All of the bars along the street where the Hilton is in, are also very good, and saw a lot of families eating and drinking in most of them.
Found the Monsoon Bar (further down the street from the Hilton) to be probably the most upmarket type of bar that we found (other than the major hotels).

Also paid a vist to the Shed Bar and had a beer with Rod (good bloke especially as he is fellow Chelsea fan).

Overall, found HH to be a very friendly place to spend a few weeks relaxing holiday, and will look forward to returning to at some time.

This just shows why this site is so useful!!!

I had wondered if the shed bar had anything to do with Chelsea, and now I've found out about a place that is GF/wife friendly and is owned by a Chelsea fan - paradise!

Just been to Sugar Cane with my wife and two young children - very nice evening and could be recommended without reservation. Cider in the fridge was icing on the cake to a stray Cousin Jack.

Nervana (sic) is very family friendly, pool table, tv screen and cocker spaniel.
Not an ad, just a recommendation.
