I know this has been asked before but I am new to this board and I have seen how hotels can change overnight. I have never been to HH so I am not sure if it is similar to any of the other larger beach cities like Pattaya and Phuket.
I am visiting Hua Hin in August to see some friends of the family at first, so I will need a hotel that is away from the bar scene but not too far. When that half of the trip is over I would like to move closer to the bar scene to enjoy my last few nights in HH. What hotels would you recomend for these 2 occassions.
The cost of the hotel room is not a concern to me. I have stayed at guesthouses for 800 baht a night that were nicer than some of the larger hotel chains that I have paid 8000 baht a night. I am looking to find 2 clean well run hotels.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Nohlsson, Hua Hin is not on that scale when it comes to the bar scene.

These 2 Maps will give you some Idea

http://www.huahinafterdark.com/hua-hin-map.htm

Hua Hins main bar scene is a square of 4 sois across from the Hilton.

I see no reason why the Hilton should not accommodate you for the whole time. Also, the Sofitel. The bar area is not far from there, but isn't very 'in your face', and is not particularly visible unless you walk down Bintabaht or Selakem. It is a lot calmer than either Pattaya or Soi Bangla in Ao Patong. In fact, it is routinely described as 'lame' by those more used to, say, Soi Cowboy. Nobody would think it strange for you to stay in one of those two.

Coming down the price scale, there is any number of budget and boutique hotels in the area, down to about 1000 baht / night. Check out the map http://www.huahinafterdark.com/hua-hin-map.htm and just avoid anything in the block bounded by Naresdamri Road, Poolsuk Road, Dechanuchit and Damnoern Kasem Road, if the bar area would be frowned on. Cross reference the map with prices at http://www.agoda.com for a fuller view, but, you could consider the Fresh Inn at about 1700, and Phuang Pen Villa at about 1200.

If some distance is really important, then the Royal Asia is about 1 km to the bars or less, and about 1400 baht, or the Grand Hotel, a little further and about 2000. Agoda's prices for HH are usually quite competitive - for example when the Royal Asia was asking 1100, it was on Agoda at 830, which if you are staying very long is a huge saving!

Okay, own up nohlsson, what does it mean? My guess is "I'm eligible for the life of a pirate"

I googled it, but apart from telling me it was the user name of a 19-year-old girl from Ohio on myspace, I learned nothing before I gave up.

One of few to get the translation. It is also commonly translated to "Pirates life for me" same same. Cheers

Thanks for all the assistance on this. The hotels are about the only thing I like to plan ahead for when going to LOS.

Hi Nohlsson

If it's not too late to add to your choice of accommodation.....

The location of the PUANGPEN VILLA HOTEL & P.P. VILLA (I'm not sure if PP VILLA is a seperate place?) may suit you fine as it's close to the night life area (2/3 minutes walk) BUT 'discretely' positioned (very close to the Soffitel and the Hilton) to serve both your 'needs' and save you having to move during your stay!

Open the following HHAD map and you'll find the hotel within grid box 7E

http://www.huahinafterdark.com/hua-hin-map.htm

I cannot find a website for the hotel and I havn't stayed there but I picked up a brochure when I was in HH recently and the can inform you the rooms look quite spacious and have a balcony, TV, A/C, safe box etc. There's also a large swimming pool.

I was quoted rates of 1,100 & 1,200 per night subject to time of year which, considering the hotels position and facilities is very competitive compared to the Hilton & Soffitel. I guess it depends what you're used too and whatever your budget is....

You can obtain more info directly from the Hotel at:

TEL: (6632) 533 785 (6)
FAX: (6632) 511 216

E-MAIL: ppvillahotel@hotmail.com

Hope this helps - at least it's another iron in your fire! thumbs up

Cheers bradders

I suggest Hua Hin Ave for your first week. Get the deluxe room at 2000 baht, my wife loved it! Then when she left I moved to Top Marks to enjoy the night life (Smile bar next door is alot of fun to enjoy a beer).
