This has always amused me but why do Thai children walk around in their PJs on the streets?
It usually occurs in the morning and in the evening. I just find it so amusing as I'd never seen this before. _________________ It's a small world after all... |

Unknown, but you'll also see Thai women on motorbikes in the morning still in their sleep gear, taking their kids to school or going to the market. Many times they will have thrown a jacket on though. PJ's just seem to be a acceptable form of clothing either indoor or outdoors...LOL.
Now, if we see someone in the West wandring the streets in PJ's and a robe, it's off to the loony bin with them. Pete |

I am in favor of little kids wearing PJ's to bed and young and attractive ladies wearing them as street clothes.
Just think about Vietnam, where PJ's are everyday wear. _________________ Piggest of A |

Sultry, daytime wearing of pj's is de rigueur on British council estates, along with slippers and dressing gowns for the adults. I was that pj wearing kid, playing on the building site up the road! _________________ "The man who never made a mistake never did bugger all" - Old Welsh proverb

My wife (she's Indonesian) tells me that this is common in Indonesia too.
In Indonesia, it is a statement fo your financial status. Parading in your PJs (certainly for adults), is saying 'I can afford special sleeping clothes' - the likes of which are not traditionally worn by the Indonesians.
I see in my Moo Baan, many women, of the more mature variety, and in fact men too, wearing their PJs ealry in the mrning or in the evening.
I suspect that in Thailand the meaning for adults to parade in them is similar to Indonesia. _________________ Only the crumbliest, flakiest Winkie.... |

I would reckon it's just practicable.
