If you look down the side menu on the left, I think the reason is there under "prison days" or some such title.
I came across the site a year or so ago and read quite a bit of his work. I'm pretty sure his incarceration was due to drugs - ya ba. I can't remember whether it was possession or dealing.
Thanks for reminding me the site, Roel. I've got it bookmarked, but of course have never really got around to the Thai language bit. I'm just a lazy git!! _________________ "I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered". George Best. |

This is a great site.
You can download the lessons and put them on your MP3 player or phone.

Has anybody tried these Podcasts yet?
I find them better than any website or CD because you can use them whenever. |

|
|
I searched a couple of times and can't believe this link hasn't been posted yet. It's a very sophisticated interactive reference and guide to the Thai language—the best site overall I've found yet:
http://www.thai-language.com
Here's a much simpler site that also has an excellent interactive dictionary:
http://www.thai2english.com/
I use these sites in conjunction with the Benjawan Poomsan Becker series of books (Thai for Beginners, with an orange cover, is available at Se-Ed and elsewhere), and everyday interactions with Thais for my learning strategy. So far I'm happy with my progress and it's a flexible, cheap way to go. |
