Although I would also be more in favour of keeping the name, I understand the reasons for changing it; after all, when I first came to Hua Hin it was called Beachcombers. As I understand it the new partner is keen on a movies theme, although other good suggestions are welcome. So, on the movie theme I suggest the following:
The Buzz (or Buzz Bar)
The Ticket
Flash (sort of suits the new partner too!)
The Great Escape
Stars
The Hot Spot (an obscure movie that starred Don Johnson but had a great jazz soundtrack!)

On a no theme basis, I suggest these:
Stonehead Saloon
Easy Street
Speaker's Corner

Maybe these will trigger more ideas?

Problem here is always availability and price. People like to see the variety but do not like to pay the price for imported beers.

However if you can bring some nice Californian bottled beers with you I am sure that JW and myself will take some off you. I cannot remeber all the names now but there was one San Franciso Beer that was very nice. It was like a cross between an English Brown Ale and a Pilsner. Something like Sam Adams but a better flavour.

How I used to get round the weight issue is to buy it in the duty free and take it as hand luggage. A 24 case fits in the over head locker just perfectly and allows you to chuck all you other crap on top.

Also US, Irish and Canadian Whiskeys are half the price at SFO than they are here. If you don't drink them yourself you wiull have no problem exchanging them for discounted beer when you get here. Good labels are Paddy, Crown Royal and Four Roses. Almost impossible to get in Hua Hin.

I look forward to your visit and hope the rain falls mainly on the plain for this coming monsoon.

With those suggestions I hope that effect will be the opposite and the existing name will stay.

Jamie, the old table football is about goosed, a couple of people have looked at it but it only lasts a few days. I have given to a friend whos yound thai son played it all the time.

Shame - best and fastest bar game in the world when played properly (no spinning and strong wrists required - don't ask about the training regime for that). It was a proper mediterranean style table too if I remember correctly - steel players & hard balls unlike the crappy soft plastic versions we have here in UK that result in slow games.

You are probably talking about Anchor Steam. One of the original microbrews. Saved from oblivion by Fritz Maytag of Maytag washer fame.

Personally I get real tired of the basic selection.
1. Singha has has too much hops (bitter)
2. The local malt/formaldehyde combos (Chang, Leo, Tiger, etc.) give me a headache and worse.
3. Heiniken -- that's what I ended up with the last trips; but it gets boring after a while. I wold gladly pay for diverstiy and quality; but for quantity, I'll stick with Heiniken.

JW, find a distributor for Stella & Becks and use it as a draw card to promote the re-opening of the bar.
You may even find that as you would be the 1st take it on that they may tip some money in towards the promotion.
See you in Crawfords this evening if you are there

I'll drink to that. Still working on St. Pauli Girl out here in hot, sultry CA. Got to a humid 100 in the Bay Area today.
