There have been a number or rumors and complaints recently about Thai internet providers blocking outgoing SMTP mail on your own domain names.

This maybe in an effort to get you to use their services, it was tried in Australia but the providers were sued for it ... not something that can be done here.

Anyway, I have had a few clients call me about problems and the offending providers so far are as follows: True, Loxinfo, Hutch and possibly TOT.

What this thread is for is to compile a list of providers' outgoing mail servers so if you know of the others please add them:

Hutch: smtp.hutch.co.th
CAT: relay.cat.net.th
TOT: totadsl.th.com
True: classic.asianet.co.th
CS/Lox: mail.csloxinfo.com
Ji Net: net1.ji-net.com
Maxnet: smtp.tttmaxnet.com

Often they just block SMTP port 25 so changing it to 587 may work.

Note: If you use webmail (Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail etc) this won't affect you at all, its only for people with their own accounts.

Very good info buksida. Thank you.
I'll keep my eyes open.
My outgoing provider is ji-net.com but so far no incidence.

Yeah, but a hell of a lot slower, even with a thai internet provider!
Sad

I'm going to sticky this one as many people are still having troubles sending email own their own domains.

Again if anyone knows any more please add them to the list.

Would I be right in assuming that a proxy may be useful in getting around this issue? The SMTP blocking may well be at the request of the government, so as to filter all SMTP to known channels, such that they can monitor emails if need be, if the general internet censorship I encountered is anything to go by.

You could but it would be painfully slow, easier just to use the ISP's SMTP server. Most of the proxy sites have also been blocked, there are ways around it but for obvious reasons we cannot publish them here!

Obviously you can't and I fully understand that, and of course most of the more techie types among us know the ways around things Smile

buksida,

Apologies for being a bit thick today, but what does it mean when you say, "I'm going to sticky this one" please?
Cheers

It appears that the nice people at CAT have decided to stop the relay.cat.net.th SMTP server functioning anymore without a word of notice to their clients who are now stuck and unable to send email.

This will work instead: 202.47.249.23

Here is a full list:

No this only applies to people trying to send email using their own domain.

Yours are probably going missing due to Yahoo spam filters, they are slowly catching up with Hotmail and Aol.

This confuses me BK as have read this thread from the start but have no problems. I use Loxinfo as a dial up ISP and have four domains registered with Domain Direct in Toronto, and use POP mail with my separate email client program, or webmail. Outgoing mail server name is SMTP.domain name. All continues to work well for me? Pete Cheers

PS: My email client use Port 110. I did not assign that, it must have been done automatically by Domain Direct's system, or the email client itself? I have the ability to change it but have never had the need or instructions from the domain to do it.
