A few clarifications, corporate ISP accounts seem to be exempt from the block (which is on port 25 btw). You maybe lucky Pete in that Lox still lets you send on your own domain.

Hotmail are worse, their spam filters are even stronger than Yahoos so you could lose upto 30% of your email and would never know it. If you want to change and are having problems with Yahoo I recommend Gmail _________________ Luctor et Emergo |

Edited for obvious reasons (see Buksida's post below)...
There are easy ways to bypass censorship firewalls (but it's illegal to do so)

Who is your email provider?
Have a read of this for more information:

Jockey, that link looks interesting, however I hope you realise that this is now illegal in Thailand:

Seem to be getting a LOT of issues with this lately as Thai providers have been shuffling around again.
If you can't send email using your own domain name please call your internet provider, not your webmaster. Or try one of these SMTP servers:

I have had a CAT, TT&T and TOT (JiNet and Maxnet) lines since I am in Hua Hin. At the moment I am using TT&T Maxnet Premier.
The only time I recall having problems with my own mail server (for example: mail.gmx.net port 25) was with JiNet, but after I talked to the support a couple of times and given them the right information, they opened it so I could use my "own" mail server.... guess you just got to annoy them enough
At the moment I am using several (10+) different pop and smtp server, all without any issues.
There are some packages listed (indy,Premier, biz), those are (also) the MAxNet packages from TT&T... I don't know if MaxNet is also offered by TOT, if so just add TT&T behind it please |

Yes, if you call them several times and give them grief they open the ports and let you use your own server but by default they're blocked.
Maxnet is only offered by TT&T, tried it a while ago and found it useless, hinet by CAT isnt much better but that could be because I live a few clicks out of town and the phone cables haven't been replaced since 1947. _________________ Luctor et Emergo |

I live out on the canal road near the recycling place and use TT&T Maxnet
seems ok and no problems so far other than the usual Ragnorok Hour where it all slows down..... _________________ If I can't smoke and swear I'm f****d!

There is a BIG difference in Maxnet "indy" and "premier" packages.
The maxnet indy package has no or very limited International connection during the daytime, it basically only works from from about 1am to 6am at full speed.
The maxnet premier package runs at full speed all day long, I can download with 100kb/s anytime a day (1Mbit line for 1090 Baht).
If you read my comment to the hutch scam, you get the details
The packages listed on expathuahin.com are TT&T Maxnet packes and not TOT (unless TOT named their 3 packages exactly the same..), it says on the website they are TOT packages though...
The only time I had to anoy them was with the JiNet (I think TOT, isn't it?)package when I first moved to Hua Hin, ALL other packages (TT&T maxnet indy and/or premier, and CAT 2MBit for 2600 Baht) let me access my own smtp without any problems, I didn't have to call or do anything to use them. |
