Internet censorship is spreading rapidly, being practised by about two dozen countries (Thailand is one of them) and applied to a far wider range of online information and applications, according to research by a transatlantic group of academics.

With Thailand looking towards China and Myanmar for censorship technology guidance the internet as an educational or research tool will be virtually defunct here in a few years if these trends continue.
