Next week i have a meeting to possibly make a career move to the port of Laem Chabang this is about 30km's north of Pattaya can any one please tell me how long will it take to drive there from Hua hin, do you have to go right up to Bangkok or is there a more direct route towards Chonburi. If the job thing comes off i will rent there but buy in Hua hin and come down at week ends i think Pattaya is a hole of a place but if the job gets me to Thailand so be it. |

Last week we got from Bo Fai (Soi 6) to the airport in 2 hours 20 in Friday morning rush hour. If you're lucky you'll maybe get to Laem Chabang in 3 hours, but allow 4. _________________ ดวงขึ้น

I have approached my perent company Dubai ports world who have co ownership of LCIT container terminal,i have a meeting next week, wot i am trying to do is get a management job in training and or health and safety,i know i can't come and do the job of a Thai i.e crane driving or machine operating, manual work but a management or training role is different and maybe they can make a position for me.Dubai ports world have 42 container ports and are market leaders, training and safety are the highest standards through out the world, i am allready a supervisor and highly qualifyed with 14 years experiance, so i think that will all go in my favour,i just will have to wait and see.

Ken, I wish you good luck as well. A very bold move that I've heard many talk about, but don't do anything else. As you say, if you're already known by the company, it could work in your favour. _________________ Green Army position 10 2007/08

Good luck mate!
I guess you'd be working down the road from Hell in the big container port at Si Ratcha.... if so and you fancy a quiet weekend go down the coast to Si Ratcha town, get a ferry over to Koh Si Chang and chill....lovely little quiet island and chilled as anything in the evening after the ferry stops working. _________________ If I can't smoke and swear I'm f****d!

Thankyou for your support,i have been with my Thai wife for 3 years and allways have thought one day we will live back in Thailand, i constantly look for idea's on wot i can do and never really thought about opportunitys with the parent company,i have become very unhappy with life in the U.K because i want to be in Thailand but feel that i am tied to a very good job that i cant leave, i know that many people come to Thailand and loose there life saving trying to live the dream and i dont want to be on a fool's errend if i can get a job with DP World i will retain my good pension and lots of other benefits, any other way is very risky. |
