I play in the cricket sixes every year, our team is not that good, but there are some top class players there every year.

Anyone wanting a day of cold beers good crack and entertaining cricket should give it a go.

Lomu you ll love it, the beers definitely flow!!

Hua Hin Sixes set to start with a splash

Some like to throw water at one another at this time of year, others prefer playing cricket. So, while there will be plenty of watery fun during the Songkran festival during the coming days, there will be equally entertaining action of a slightly different nature at the beautiful grounds of the Dusit Resort in Hua Hin.

The 13th Hua Hin International Cricket Sixes is taking place April 14-18 at the Dusit and the 16 participating teams are looking forward to what promises to be a festival of entertaining cricket to match the Songkran atmosphere.

A big plus for the tournament this year is a new all-weather wicket sponsored by Shaun Patrick of the Nottssport company.

On Monday night, after the opening day's play, there will be the traditional Welcome Dinner with chief guest, Syed Ashraful Huq, CEO of the Asian Cricket Council, who also assisted with the acquisition of the new pitch, and Deputy Governor of the TAT, Suraphol Svetsrereni. Also attending will be Bob Lloyd, vice president of the MCG, who is making his sixth visit to theHua Hin Sixes.

The tournament will feature the main Cup event in which six strong teams will compete, and the the Masters, featuring 10 sides.

The Cup is expected to produce a high standard of cricket and defending their title will be Hong Kong Woodbines.

The Woodies produced their best performance last year, going unbeaten throughout the event.

Last year's runners-up, Thailand Colts, have developed a taste for finals and will be keen to get their hands on the trophy this year.

Also fancying their chances in the Cup will be Thai Thevada, Globetrotters, MCC (Melbourne) Red and Commonwealth, all of whom have experienced players.

The Masters tournament includes MCC Blue, Canterbury CC, Brett's Follies, The Longnecks and Cluden who will be fielding two teams.

Local teams will be looking to make an impression this year, as usual led by the Parrot Masters who ruffled a few feathers last year by winning the Masters trophy. The Parrots have been displaying uncharacteristic impressive form so far this season and believe they can repeat last year's success.

Hosts Hua Hin can always be relied upon to produce some entertaining, if somewhat unorthodox cricket, and with their unquestioned enthusiasm are expected to make their presence felt in one way or another.

Among the visiting professionals will be Victoria's wicket-keeper Adam Crosthwaite who will play for Thai Thevada and former Victoria pace bowler Mick Lewis who will be a valuable player in the MCC Red side.

The tournament will feature a number of familiar old faces, three of whom will have played in all 13 Hua Hin events, which is quite an achievement.

Heading the lads on ''Lucky 13'' is co-organiser Tom Karnasuta who has reportedly been working hard on his speciality stroke, the Chinese cut.

Hua Hin's Colin Devonshire, who has done much for the tournament and produces the Sixes programme, is also celebrating his 13th appearance as is all-rounder David Currie who has been spotted in intensive training in recent weeks, building himself up for the big event.

Among the tournament sponsors are the Dusit Resort, TAT, UOBAM and Mitr Phol Sugar.
